There are 330,590,424 people in the United States Worldometer . If everyone in the United States eventually contracted the disease and 1.5% died................... That would come out to 4,958,856.36 (just under 5 million). And how many are going to be impacted if you shut down everything instead? And if we expand the dept by many trillions by shutting down everything?

If Trump didn't go after this very aggressively the Democrats would be all over him. That's definitely one reason all this has been done. So with the plan maybe only 70,000 in the United States will die. That's what it comes down to. Do you want millions to die or maybe 100,000?

Millions will die from a failed economy.

Either way you look at it — we are Fu##ed!

If they had kept the economy running, it would only be old people dying with serious pre existing conditions.

With the economy shut down, even healthy people will die.

Unless the government just completely dies and grocery stores stop producing, there are many safe guards in place for citizens.

You can easily get food stamps as a citizen if you're not making enough money for food.....

You're asking for people who are old or have preexusting conditions to die to save your stocks...

Explain how millions will die from a bad economy in America??????

I have great trust in the farmers, they know what their responsibilities are. We just forgot that we can't eat money, there is a need for sincere apology, or I'm afraid we will learn the hard way.

Sincerely NC

For those with the tired argument that a declining or bad economy doesnt cause death...
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...

Suicide.
Health issues
Exacerbating previous health conditions
Economic mobility
Loss of wealth(no matter the dollar amount)
Stress which leads to the above health concerns.

Loss of wealth and stress can be dealt with. How does overloading hospitals with covid patients help health issues?

Should we let old people die so we don't stress people out about their wealth? ........

When the love of money (wealth, the economy) exceeds the your love of life (yours, or that of your fellow humans), or health such that you would risk life or health to secure wealth...

You are likely better off dead, anyway!

Should we allow suicide numbers to skyrocket in order to appease your security and righteousness superiority?

I can play this game too.

Even in NYC the hospitals have not hit their max saturation levels.

And if the worst comes the government can help the farmers.. i don't see farmers suddenly quiting their lifestyle because of a bad economy.

Qol and health are part and parcel to a healthy fulfilling life. That includes money and how it is made and saved.

Cant have one without the other.

Why do you want people who dont agree with you to die?

If you're suiciding youself because of a bad economy then that's your fault and own demise. People with preexisting conditions and who are old can't help from dying.

Suicide is a choice. Dying from a virus is not.

Your argument is silly.

Edit : you're arguing that money is needed for hapiness and fulfillment. Aka : to not lead into a suicidal mindset. Maybe that's whats wrong with this world.

Lol, right. Cant blame heart conditions or diabetes on anything other than the genetic lottery.

You sound ridiculous.

You understand that stress can reach the level of severe health problems and exacerbate the issue right? It's not their fault the economy tanked and they lost their home and savings right?

Point is you cannot rationalize that one death is lesser or greater than the other. You can only hope to mitigate each terrible side of the coin.

My wife works in a local hospital. Hospitals are always in contact with each other in regards to census, trauma center capacity, etc. I also know others who work in hospitals in the area. I have not heard of one single hospital that is at its covid-19 max capacity, or, one single hospital that is at max census right now. There are open beds in every hospital in the area.

Grocery stores are full, shelves are stocked - with the exception of toilet paper which I still don't understand since this is a respiratory condition - and no one is going hungry. There is no guarantee that things will be the same tomorrow, but, there is also no reason to suspect otherwise at this time.

Bro; no explanation required. This is worse than the great depression. More people are out of work than the GREAT DEPRESSION. This is THE Great Depression. The government doesn't have enough money to pay for everyone to get food.

Quality of life has nothing! to do with wealth, making it, or saving it.

If you believe it does, if you believe that you “Can’t have one without the other”, you are basing your justification for existence on a fabrication.

Humans existed long before “money”. Their “value” to themselves and each other depended on how they kept each other alive, both physically and as a social unit.

It may sound corny, but it don’t cost a dime to enjoy a sunset.

And comforting someone in pain has a far better ROI than even the best portfolio.

If you can’t appreciate those truths, regardless of how much money you have, your “Qol” is

Zilch.
