What happens when there enough charity donations to keep food banks going?

They die. Thanks for making my argument for me.

And unlike private individuals the ability of government to provide expands in economic downturns.

Only temporarily... until the well runs dry or hyperinflation kicks in...

Not sure where you were making that argument.

One of us is certainly failing on that count.

why hyperinflation exactly, I'm curious why people think that...

Keep replenishing your food stores, rotate the stock, this is just starting, some of the foods will be in short supply for a while. I think flour will be one that is going to recover in maybe three months, the late harvest. I don't think the winter wheat is going to produce much this year, lots of heavy wet snow could have taken it down.

Because, hyperinflation sets in when a currency is over printed and over circulated. For now the United States is protected from hyperinflation, by the dollar still being the world reserve currency. I saw more than a few financial "experts" back when quantitative easing was first enacted, that said the only reason the dollar didn't hyper inflate then was because of the world reserve currency status. Of course if that ever changes than the dollar will indeed hyper inflate and even without it just regularly inflation has been destroying the dollar for many decades. The economists will always tell you a weak dollar is good though, because it lets you by lots of cheap stuff from other countries..... In any case if the other nations were to move away from the dollar though as the reserve currency it will be war. Which I doubt they will.

...and when there isn't enough for me to be charitable, because I don't have enough for me?? It's reached that point for far too many, already.

What then??

Odds are very good that it won't reach that point, but given the level of hysteria, it wouldn't overly surprise me, either.

I am, after all, something of a pessimist

There is no lock down on food production, distribution or retail. The impact is from panic buying and sickness. Both of which would be much worse without the lockdown.

Crops are rotting in the field because, no one to harvest the crops, processing facilities shut down, supply trucks with no drivers, no crops imported from Mexico, border closed... this is where the food chain break is occurring as we speak.

You probably don't know this, but most of the field workers, food processors, and workers in the ag food production industry in the US are Mexicans.
Aside from grain production, the San Joaquin valley in California, is Americas breadbasket.

The border is closed from both sides. Odd how little covid 19 there is in Mexico.

If you are going to argue for a particular agenda, it helps to argue from a position of knowledge and you simply don't have it. Hope this helps...

If you are going to talk about a position of knowledge it's a good idea to read your own links.

They are taking about crops being wasted due to a reduction in demand. The very opposite of the claim you are making.

Your post is nothing but your opinion versus mine. You made your point in my other thread that you support government instituted lockdowns, erosions of rights and economic destruction. You are part of the problem.
You're essentially correct, you're opinion and by extension, ignorant.

Sorry, about your $100 a month haircuts and limos, *Yawn* not really 😘

Did you need me to Zell you some Stimulis? 😌

Otherwise, according to you, I guess we'll just keep staying in Military induced lock down, papers in hand and free Gov checks only to be spent online at walmart and curbside 🀭

You're ridiculous and perhaps you needed a change, embrace it 🀫

People working are getting salary cuts while people on unemployment make more at home than they did at work.

Safety net?

I'm working with it, literally.

So I'm not thrilled people are getting bonuses, 600 a week to stay at home.

I get a salary cut and 401k matching taken away.

The only bright side I get if any is watching the same people act like I'm some lefty show their true colors when they get a taste of their free gib me dats. It was never about ideological conviction for two party shills. Just "their guy" and "winning". Congrats, you guys won the hell out of this one.

that money is not being printed though, it's being released from the treasury general fund, the fed isn't even allowed to hold that much money, just a few billion.

One thing's for sure, if all these ultra-rich corporations really are just sitting on piles of cash that they hoard, this will certainly test that assumption, won't it?

We know for a fact that the small mom and pop shops aren't.
