China imports a lot of their food from other countries. About half of smithfield pork goes to China. The swine flu they have over there is taking a toll on their food, they cannot get rid of that disease, so bought smithfield and boosted production. Because half of the pigs are just slaughtered and froze for shipment, they do not need the processing facilities to cut up the meat, so they have been closed. We still get a lot of the pork that is produced, and some of the pork going over there does get processed into food that comes back, like for chinese style packaged foods things like tv dinner entries.

Because production was upped, it could cause a grain shortage though.

I have no problem with China needing pork in a time of need so I will not condemn this practice, Chinese people are pretty decent people, I cannot say I want them to be stuck without food either.

We have smithfield meats in our stores up here, if you decide to boycott them, they will then send more of the meat to China so they do not lose money. It will not make our life better. I do not know if stuff like smithfield bacon is processed in China and sent back, I do not know what prepared products are being created over there, you would not think it would be cost effective to do bacon or hams there and send it back. Maybe some sausages or something, I could not find that information when I researched Smithfield months ago.

These are the same types of people who don't wipe their ass, because it's dirty. They take gatorade bottles with holes punched into them and squirt their assholes with it. They # all over the toilets and get it all over the floors.

LOL, whaaat?

Where did you discover this Gatorade bottle thing. Who came up with it and why has it been adopted by others? Do different varities of worker use different containers like a juice box or a Sprite? So many questions.

Where is Werner Herzog? We need some investigation of this emerging subculture.

Meat prescriptions?

Sounds like someone's got the cure, and it's delicious!

Beats me. It's the people that come over here and are used to living in caves. As far as the gatorade thing goes I don't know. Maybe they like how the bottles return to form after squeezing.

It's definitely not a religious thing, because my friends who are of the same religion were appalled when I asked them if it was normal in their home countries. They said it wasn't.

Apparently in some cultures people think it's dirty to touch your own genitals or orifices. So, they come over here and refuse to learn how to be modern and disrespectfully trash what is otherwise a perfectly clean restroom.

And I'm not kidding. I'm being super serious. I've worked in many industrial food processing places. Sure they're may not be bugs or rodents getting into the food. But the peoole are disgusting. And management doesn't perform corrective actions because they fear lawsuits of discrimination.

You're much better off supporting your local hunters and butchers.

Over here a local postman spoke about the main hub for the principality getting whacked by Corona as in half the staff missing . That was a month ago, none of them had been given gloves or anything similar either.
Today in Wales there's a district with half of the ambulance service and same proportion of nurses off with Corona. The army has stepped in to help run ambulances.
Considering there's a lot of prescription drugs made in India and China you raise a good point there could be trouble in that department as well as food and other less needed imports like coffee and cocoa .

Supply chain disruptions are par for the course , in every pandemic plan that's already factored in. It's not a test run , but they'll get tested , for sure.

It's hardly certain the players are up to scratch , the plans are good the operational side is another matter.

It's ridiculous hearing that at this stage in you still have Starbucks drivethroughs with queues in hard hard hit areas in the states . Also that trumps sending out drug task forces to South america that's insane. Is he an addict ?

The economists like our chancellor too are desperate to restart the economy , but they need telling that's not how you mitigate a pandemic.
They're thinking only about all their investments and they're under pressure from corporate bosses.
They're thinking about the way that th virus validates a different and wholly better system of means provision than corporate power , which relies on an underequipped public and under reliable cheats and aggressive competition , and heavy exploitation to continue operating at max profit . They're worried by the time food systems are reorganised it won't go back to the way things were , for them .
# em , that's not how you do it, getting through this , and their sketchy ways are not how we should have been doing it especially with food and drugs.

They all know it , they just need telling , suck it up , your powers are gone , and you're not having them back as soon as you want just because you didn't care if people will die or need face masks and clearance id for the next 10 years . That's life , you're in the minority now if you're (used to be ) rich and powerful, and your assets are now liabilities . Only to you and your expense accounts : good riddance.

What the pandemic food security plans in fact lay out is a way of life much better for the American people , go all people , and the environment. When they're instituted , everyone will realise the new ways need to be taken up long term . To reset at the level of needs and not desires and profit doesn't mean automatic socialism but it does mean freedom from corporate power over everything , and when proper measures are found to be necessary , everyone will learn , probably the hard way at first , knowing how desperate certain players are to reopen their old way of doing it. Those basic changes could save the sanity of this planets life , not mention a healthier environment would be immensely more valued immediately and long term .

Food realities , the old maxim , we re only three missed meals away from chaos.
Sort it according to the plans , reorganise the food system , now.

That meat processing company I worked for. Guess what? It made the news.

www.660citynews.com...

Cargill loves to tout that they are a great company to work for and throw out all kinds of statistics on diversity and inclusiveness, and whatever else, but when it comes to treating workers properly they absolutely do not care.

They will fire you for little to no reason due to the fact that they love undocumented workers. They hire them en masse and often times the undocumented workers will share SS numbers and help each other fill out the forms.

They will cover their own asses and public relations damage control is their number one priority next to money.

The way they handle sanitation is a joke. They don't enforce sanitation, because they don't want to offend anyone's beliefs due to culture or religion.

I can guarantee you that there are other Cargill plants that are going through the same thing and that their damage control team is in full gear to keep their name in good standing.
