And you can bet that the bootlickers will be standing in line to rat out the opposition, for real or imagined offences.

It's the way a Fascist police state works.

Here's an example....

Hiding is sort of cowardly behavior, so maybe most of us have no plans of hiding.

Are you a snitch trying to hide? That was my point...maybe a snitch should not have tats too... BTW don't break the law either.... what did he look like... I don't remember but he had this huge FU tat on his forehead...lol

To paraphrase W.S. Burroughs there are two kinds; every day decent people no-good s$#@s.

Every day decent people can be a good neighbor without being nosey. They acknowledge you and you acknowledge them where appropriate. They might step in to protect life and limb and to protect children and small animals from the other kind of people when called to do so. If there are local representatives of state authority are present and engaged with the community, they will already know who's who and what's what. "Snitching" isn't a problem for a decent person. What other people do in their own spaces is their own business unless it threatens another's' freedom to live in peace. When that happens, it's everyone's' business.

This is the community model common to rural areas and certain towns and cities with strong neighborhood cohesion.

The no-good s$#@s are the other kind; punks, bullies, performative "do-gooders," nosey busy-bodies, creeps, and criminals. These people thrive when community cohesion is fractured by lifestyle, design or culture -- especially during "downtimes." If enough of the no-goods gather in one place, they resort to all kind's of bad behavior. The authority figures representing state-control are not part of the community and have no vested interest in seeing it change for the better, let alone thrive. This creates conflict between the people and the state. Snitches and gangs fill in the gaps where the community has dissolved.

I don't live in the first kind of neighborhood or community. I have but I no longer do. I retain the principals, for the most part. I mind my own business and don't spend a lot of time looking over my neighbor's fence. If I hear sirens or hear screams, I gawk out my window like everyone else. If I can help without interfering with someone else's freedom, I do. If my neighbors' party too hardy or do band practice at 10 p.m. I introduce myself and ask them nicely to consider us. If there are urban campers behind our fence in the back I leave them alone unless they rile up my dogs. Then I call the non-emergency line and the authorities come and move them along.

I couldn't tell you whether my neighbors are being good or are observing the stay at home order from the Mayor. I assume they are because my dogs aren't going crazy and I haven't heard a lot of traffic. I see people walking their dogs, or jogging when I am out walking mine. We maintain our "safe" distance and nod or wave at one another.

There is no amount of money that would get me to call the cops on my neighbor over any of this. I would not participate in such a scheme even to the extent of turning off the video before the man quits talking.

I don't want to be famous so I can't be bought with fame either.

1984= 1+9+8+4= 22= 2+2=4
1984/4= 496= 4+9+6= 19= 1+9=10
10= 1*0= 0
Zero... the number of testicles a government snitch possesses.

The numerology doesn't lie.

I guess the common picture is of the old ladies who stand there and tut-tut everything. We all know what they're like - that mental image, but you can apply it to anyone who engages in that style of behavior. These days, there are lots of them and they're mostly in the SW type set busy finger-pointing everyone's little moral indiscretions like bitter old witches.

Oh lord. Now they have an app.

All those SW Keyboard warriors on Facebook now can act out their twisted insecurities in the real world.

Riverside County creates app to report coronavirus order violations

The County of Riverside launched RivCoMobile, an app that allows residents to anonymously report violations of state and county public health orders issued to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

I don't have an answer to this one. However in general when peoples lives are endangered I think the moral thing to do is tell.

Terrorists, political or biological, are a danger to the public, IMO.

I think the intent of the person 'saying something' is important. People 'snitch' on people they don't like quite often, or for some form of renumeration.

The job site situation in LA is quite muddled (and largely led by Finance Folk) Some job site's are in the 'essitianal services' arena but most are not. But everyone thinks their job site is - therefore it is reasonable to have city inspectors see that protective measures are being taken on job sites. A lot of people, their families, friends and just people passing by, can be infected by unthinking at a single 'non-essential' job site. We had calls from Finance/Banks way before the 'social distancing' rules or self quarantining went into effect from banks pushing to keep working at all costs regardless of the potential health consequences.

So - yeah - it's a tough call for a single person - but not tough at all when you consider the thousands put in jepordy by a non-essential - non-compliate work site.

Jesus, I honestly think I just vomited on the screen. I get it you were kidding but man you guys suck up to each other. Coming back to this broad after a while it is easy to see the people who think they are Gods and those who supplicate to them. ATS is like a really sad High School. You guys all deserve each other. Deny ignorance, lol.

Because people can't possibly be comfortable in each other's presence and have a chuckle, surely everyone cracking a joke back and forth on this site must be sucking up.

Personally, I think you're sucking lemons a bit hard here over nothing. Or maybe a twinge of jealousy? You did equate it to a high school, after all.

Haven't you figured it out yet? Humor is anathema to people of a certain political persuasion.

It means some people, somewhere are actually having fun and enjoying life and we can't have that because not everyone everywhere is that that's just not fair.

There should be a reasonable distinction between civic consciousness and insanity, which is prompted by human envy and commercialism. For me, Russian, the behavior that is described in this thread is savagery. His behavior must be built on the basis of morality, morality and self-esteem.

I will describe one case that happened to me. My two childhood friends and I drove by car, a very expensive car, from Moscow to a small town in Germany, where our friend, a classmate, lived with her German husband. They had their own small cottage with a piece of land. On the way, we stopped at a supermarket, bought food for a picnic and meat for barbecue. We arrived and began to make fire in the brazier to fry the barbecue. Our friend made round eyes and said that without the permission of the municipality it is impossible to fry kebabs, the police will come. We went to the town hall and bought permission - about 20 euros. We arrived and began to fry the barbecue. The police came to us about 15 times, checked the permission and left. Then another police officer told us that the phone in the police was torn from the calls of neighbors. Everyone knocked on the police at us. Although we were ready to invite everyone to the holiday.
In my opinion, this is wildness

Is he/she responding to a ingrained high moral compass, or a carrot at the end of a stick.

No. It is an instinct. He or she has skeletons in the closet. He or she wants mental reassurance about his or her own self. The logic goes like this: Snitch a fellow human being -> watch that human being crash and burn -> feel a little bit better about yourself.

The morality of ripping off a giant, smelly one and blaming it on someone else.
