One thing that I am happy about the quarantine is the closeness my family has gained.
My kids are closer together than ever.
My wife and I haven't had any arguments or anything.

Neighbors were checking in with us, asking if we needed anything.
The toughest challenge has been agreeing on what to make for dinner.

This is why UBI will fail.

I pay Kevin 10 dollars to make my widgets.

Kevin now gets 10 dollars from government.

So now I have to pay Kevin 20 dollars to make my widgets.

The price of widgets increases to cover the new costs to making them.

Government taxes me more to pay for Kevin's 10 dollars also.

So now we have inflation because of all the new money.
The dollar is devalued.
I am taxed more.
And widgets cost twice as much.

Modern society will just become a bunch of video game critics and food tasters. But who will make the computers and/or cook the food? No one.

Challenge: Plugged sewer
Solution: Move

Solution: **crickets**

And pretty soon there will be no more houses to move to, no more roads to take, but there will be 50 billion reviews on COD-2040 Green Team Alpha - The Beginning.

What if the ubi happens here in america and it works.
It's a huge success and because of that usa citizens are free from the
stress and worry we have about buying the things we need. Food, shelter, clothing.

Now when we work it's to gain something we want or because we like what we do.
Our children grow up as better humans because we are with them teaching them more often.
Backyard gardens become the norm. A return to family closeness and community.
More and more people turn to making art and entertainment in their free time
The usa experiences a new renaissance. Thus leading the world to do the same.

Stranger things have happened. I can dream can't i.

Is being away from home 8, 10, 12 hours a day and the stress of having to work # jobs just to feed your kids
a bigger problem in this world than we realize?
It's seeming like you are younger and idealistic, I remember feeling how everything would be better, if everyone had everything that they needed...

We never really needed widgets to begin with....the entire business was a waste of Global resources....hopefully the impacts result in no more widget Factories we do not need ….just like the Cupcake Shops and all the other businesses we do not need.

What if the majority of people decide the UBI is better than working at all and they run out of other peoples money?

What if there is no money for "special people" to hoard?....what if we say that no one is better than anyone else.Ever…..lol...the only ones butt-hurt would be the rich whose fiat money disappears with a single click forever and the global playing field is levelled in one fell swoop.

you forgot to Capitolise "Comrade" did you not?

Meh, communist aren't worth hitting the shift key.

Maybe Ctrl Alt Del

In the OP's wonderful 'Tontine' society...the LESS old, sick, people staying alive because of your evil ventilators...the MORE UTI bucks for everyone else.

Which Kevin are we talking about here?
The one-eyed Kevin in the first movie, or the two-eyed Kevin in the second movie.
This is important to know.

There is a segment on one of Yang's UBI recipients getting I think 2K a month or something from Yang. Very interesting. The guy said he was unemployed, lost his job. He had been unemployed for over a year.

Thing is, he had a sports car in the driveway. So for over a year he sat on his ass when he could have delivered pizzas, groceries or worked for Uber. He did nothing. He said he was using the UBI to live and pay for his daughter's college.

This one segment explains why UBI does not work. He could have worked but refused. His daughter could have joined the reserves one weekend a month for free college or gone to school part-time and work. She also refused.

So Yang was not really helping them at all. They were just helping themselves to his money.
