I disagree. Makes me wonder too.

Why people can't see the grave damage done that will haunt us for many years to come.

Look at past major events like this that changed the nation, and not for the better, but traumatized the nation into fear mode: 9/11 - Great Depression.

This will fundamentally change the US and the way people relate to each other, to the media and to the government, and not in positive ways because we are being forced to distance ourselves and relate solely based on fear.

The media is spending 24/7 spreading fear of the pandemic and hatred of the other side (what ever that may be). This is so plain and obvious that I don't see how anyone can possibly miss the glee of the media at spreading fear and division between the people. It increases ratings and viewership and makes tons of money for the media to spread fear and hatred for "the other side".

The government is fighting and telling us that the other side wants to see us all dead and only their side is our salvation, they totally and completely refuse to work cooperatively with "the other side" we see this daily and relentlessly in all the media.

This WILL, I guarantee you as a former PSY prof. do great long term damage to the psyche of the nation and perhaps the entire world, much as 9/11 did and we ended up with overt surveillance and an inability to enter government buildings without being treated like criminals, much as the Great Depression convinced an entire generation that being misers was the only key to security.

I have been separated from children in this situation. My soon to be x wife filed divorce in December and we have been split since May 2019. We share 5 kids together. Corona virus is now the blame for keeping the kids from me. Since the courts are closed and I am only before my first hearing it’s been very heart breaking. We used to discuss government conspiracies but went away from it for a while so it’s shocking to see how she much she believes the main stream news. She only teaches my kids msn and cbs news about the virus and I feel like a crazy person trying to explain to my kids my views. I keep telling them and I said from the beginning of the closure that it’s not the virus to be afraid of but the destabilization of our economy and the world at large. I work trade services/construction I am around virus and bacteria all the time. Really just as much as anyone if you truely understand how nasty the world is with germs. lol. I’ve long thought been told and researched the way to health from virus and infection is natural antibodies formed through immunization.

The thing is people here see it, “conspiracy theorist.” We are stereotyped for not believing in the mainstream. But it’s a breath of fresh air for me to come here and be like minded. I know the government like this kind of free thinking but being that I can’t go in public and share my thoughts it’s great that abovetopsecret and other outlets seem to still have real people.

Everyone on ATS knew about the 2nd or 3rd week in January. What's your point? Should he have shut the economy down then? Maybe he was operating based on advice from so called experts like the CDC and WHO.

When are people going to realize that they are still trying to take down the president and this is just the latest big idea.

Remember just a month or two ago when we were told that the people that voted for Trump need to be punished? And so here we are....being punished.

Just wait until the "what did Trump know and when did he know it" impeachment hearings start and the parade of experts prattle on and on about nothing at all and the media will tell us each and every one is a damning nail in Trump's coffin no matter what they say.

Can’t just be all about trump because the world at large are facing these shut downs and there economy to is affected. Could you imagine if we didn’t follow suit as the other nations. I don’t know what people see in trump I thought most people seen the blue red team as puppets.

Same here. I've seen a few people throw some temper tantrums when they weren't allowed to cut in front of the line or told to step back at a store or something. For the most part people around here (mid-west) are remaining calm and understand everyone's doing their best to get through this. What is shown on the news is mostly hyperbole and plain old exaggeration for ratings.

I also agree the daily circus that is this admin needs to stop. I have friends and family that work in the medical field and the daily briefings, delayed and failed responses, and complete failure to lead have caused so much unnecessary problems it's beyond insane.

Maybe your community is different than others. I don't experience this fear or hatred you speak of

People are funny....especially on ats, all you hear is big government bad, dont trust the government.

And then when people feel like they need a governing body, they ask where the government is.

The way the virus is being handled is very conservative. Taking strict measures.

Imagine having a liberal approach and being more lax about the situation.

Democrats would be like, if we give more money to BLM, LGBTQ, illegal aliens, give more needles to drug addicts. The virus will stop being racist as it's only killing a majority of people of color.

After you see trucks spraying disinfectant on roads and buildings and guys in Chernobyl suits spraying everything down. Then you know it's safe.

The u.s is a few months behind China , so they have not even dispatched disinfectant trucks .

Give it a few week and thousands of more deaths before they learn they need to disinfect streets and buildings

Do you wear a mask when you go out? That is conditioning to fear those around you may be contagious

Do you wear gloves when you to out or to touch things that may be contaminated that were delivered? That is conditioning to fear those around us and distrust the safety of items from the grocery to Amazon

Do you keep social distance? That is conditioning people to fear that anyone not in their household may be a carrier of disease

Do you want a clear barrier between you and a cashier? That is conditioning people to fear that those they interact with at work may be a carrier of disease

All of the above, while necessary, teaches people to be afraid (not trembling, not overtly, not openly - we smile, we wave, we may even chat) but to get close is forbidden in most states - this teaches people that it is dangerous to get to close to anyone but those in our immediate household

You may not see it as teaching fear, but it is, and it is also teaching distrust

Do you think the media is lying about the virus? Then you distrust and are learning that the media is not to be trusted and thus fear (not trembling, not shaking, not overt, but an underlying almost unconscious fear)

Do you think the "other" political party or party leader nearly always lies to the American people and therefore puts the country in danger over the response to the virus or through constant unrelenting criticism of response to the virus? That is what we see the media and political leaders say day and and day out about each other.

Do you agree with and only listen openly to those on "your" side? Then you are being subtly conditioned to fear that the "other side" is a danger to the nation, as they are constantly and consistently saying about each other. This leads to an unconscious fear that the government, through the "other side" is out to do you harm and thus an underlying fear of "them" develops. Just as Democrats are scared to death of Trump and all Republicans and conservatives, and think Trump and the Republicans want everyone dead right now and are absolutely "out to get US citizens" and harm them personally and destroy the nation. Just as Republicans are scared to death that Pelosi, AOC and all Democrats and liberals want a collectivist totalitarian socialist government and plan to foist it on the country through hidden pork right now or outright once in power, stripping them of all individual rights and liberties.


There is a great deal of unconscious training of fear going on in the nation. I blame the Chinese personally for not doing what Africa did with Ebola, get international help immediately, quarantine immediately, inform the world immediately - to contain the virus before it spread worldwide and caused this epidemic of the spread of deeply unconscious fear.
