The virus is too widespread now for any quarantine to work for the country. Once the lockdown is over a second round of massivly ill people WILL happen as those who are upset and in denial (like the spring breakers) will continue as if nothing every happened, going into Darwin afterlife.

Why not allow those who are idiots to darwin themselves, and their loved ones who know how they are behaving and still interact with them? I will feel compassion for their wretched and idiotic decisions. I will have compassion for their loved ones who choose to interact with idiots. But should we not respect their rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Before the lockdown, most people, most sane adults, most sane parents were socially distancing and self-isolating. Those are the types of people we want to survive. But even those people must be exposed eventually or self-isolate and socially distance for 2 years when a vaccine is available to not be exposed.

What we are doing now is slowing the spread so the hospitals can handle the load. I'm ok with it for a week or so more, but not at all beyond the end of April. I am sad that we are beyond the point where quarantine will stop the virus, it won't any longer, all we can do is slow the spread so hospitals can care for those who sadly get desperately ill. THIS IS INEVITABLE.

By the end of April we need to go back to opening up so there will be a future for our nation. If we don't there will be no decent future for the nation because the nation will be totally and completely destroyed - something I think many politicians are salivating at happening so they can enforce a draconian form of socialism upon us.

Do you really think the government should keep the nation on lockdown until no one is at risk and everyone vaccinated, for 2 years? Do you want to see the end of the US as it was and never will be again? That is what would happen and is the deepest wish and desire of Russia and China. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is colluding with Russia and China to destroy the nation, in my opinion.

I think the fear hype the news is pushing is finally starting to backfire a bit, though. I'll go check Fakebook for the replies to a local news article now and then, "lurk" the post, if you will. People are getting real fed up with the media's fear narrative, and are swinging back. My favorite thing swung back on is the news reporting only the death and confirmed cases numbers, and not the known recovered numbers. That's called out without a second thought now, it wasn't a few weeks ago.

The reporters or whoever's in charge of posting get defensive and try to shrug it off as not easy numbers to find. Then someone comes along with a link to something reputable with those numbers and rightfully chastises them for failing to figure out what investigative journalism is, lmao.

But yeah, the tide's slowly turning, and people are getting fed up in growing numbers.

I started doing that about 30 years ago.

I returned after 11 years from an overseas assignment back in 2015. Didn't recognize the America I had left (and, I realize it has been changing for the worse, since at least when Nixon got his ass kicked to the curb ... something to be said about how smart Hammurabi must have been).

First thing I did was immediately stop trusting ANYONE except my wife and my dog. New neighbor moved in across the street from me. I didn't detect any gun control conversation in there, it was a question directly related to the OP and a very reasonable question. While I completely think it's sheer stupidity to believe that citizens can take on our armed forces, the entire reason I'm a gun owner with a CCW permit is because I do not trust people in the city I live in.

Other countries have a mass shooting every decade or so. In the US, it's every other week. Gun ownership is not protective in the US, it is overwhelmingly destructive.

People are both armed and distrustful. The virus isn't the cause of the problem.
