Even though New York and New Jersey have "stay at home!" and "keep your distance when not at home" orders in place, Cuomo says New York will not reach its "apex" for another 30 days.

Cuomo also says every day that NY/NJ are like the canary in the coal mine...that it's only a matter of time before the rest of America experiences what his region is experiencing.

Is this more of a "misery loves company" mindset, or is there evidence that this is going to happen?

The virus has made its way around the world, once it reached new York it decided it would simply destroy new York but stop there, after decimating much of Europe it decided new York was it's last big night out and would go home when it was finished...

Has Covid-19 killed more people in Europe than World War-II did? History books say WW-II "decimated" Europe, but it recovered to be more prosperous than before the decimation. The same will most likely occur again, after Covid-19.

This comment makes the ignorant assumption that it is and was nowhere else past NYC.

It's been growing everywhere else alongside NYC. Some places have problems and other places not nearly as much. I think the big factor is having 8 million people crammed into an island that's 2 miles square.

Not many other places quite that crammed together on old infrastructure.

It's going to take a toll.

Watch Florida in 2 weeks.

Despite beaches being closed in Miami, it is obvious that many are not taking this seriously and continue to socialize, have house parties ect.

I expect the Miami area to become a hot spot this month. The Florida Keys, Monroe County, set up a road block last week along US1 and Card Sound and allowing only residents, delivery trucks, and workers who commute(with proof) through the check point.

Governor DeSantis did not support this and refused to allow the Florida Highway Patrol to man the road block. However due to demand of the residents and a plethora of volunteers the road block has been banned and turn back an alarming number of people from the Miami area trying to enter.

New York's population density was the primary problem for the outbreak. While Miami is relatively densely populated it does not compare to New York. Their outbreak is a result of their culture of being socially active and this culture is continuing despite the now imminent virus threat. Ignorance and arrogance is the root cause of what is happening in Miami.

Traitor to New Yorkers, Mario Cuomo, will THANK CHINA for the 1,000 Respirators they've donated to his state.

twitter.com...

And they will immediately moved to the warehouse where 60,000 more are hoarded.

And you believe him?

Briefings, from public health, have been happening since January. Each state has a Public Health Department.

Nationally, the militiary was briefing leaders in January as well.

A whole lot of denial going around and it's understandable but not helpful.

I’m honestly not sure which would be worse.... if he were truly so ignorant as to be unaware of what the rest of the world has known since Christmas or that he knew all along and yet took little to no action to protect the citizens of his state.

NYC is a city of 8 million people crammed onto a small island that is 2.5 miles wide and about 13 miles long. It is the most dense city in the US. People pay $1 million to live in 600 sqft studio apartments. You have to take the subway everywhere as it is impractical to own a car regardless of how rich you may be.

NJ is basically just a suburb of New York City with a lot of people commuting.

Exactly and also Imo, as much as I like Governor Cuomo, I think he took too long to act on shutting things down.
California was the first state to do so and this is why they have better numbers. San Francisco was the first big city to go into lockdown as well, then the entire state did, I think a week later.
