Actual BREAKING news: China Admits to Hiding Real Covid-19 Infection Numbers from the World!!

Under its newest COVID-19 prevention guidelines, China does not include in its overall daily count for total and for new cases those who retest positive after being released from medical care. China also does not include asymptomatic cases in case counts.

"I have no idea why the authorities choose not to count [asymptomatic] cases in the official case count. I am baffled," said one of the Wuhan doctors who had a second positive test after recovering.

The source is NPR, so the facts should at least be correct.

SO this is insane. When the world is discussing how we can test those who may already have had this and are now immune... When countries are desperate for information so that they can scientifically plan for outbreaks... when those on all sides are using collated information to push their narrative/advocate for courses of action...

China goes and admits that they have been withholding information all along, especially critical information that is extremely pertinent to modeling, planning, and in the end, saving lives/economies (separate, but not mutually exclusive). I have speculated since the beginning that China was, or must, be lying about its infection rates and here is real proof. I wonder if this guy will wake up dead tomorrow... or find himself working in a concentration camp as a "doctor".

This is not fake news. It is not about the failure rate of the testing method (although that is quite interesting!) It is about the fact that China is NOT reporting those who test positive, but are asymptomatic. If I need to explain why that is maddeningly huge, please ask below!

imagine what? China? Lying about this infection? This news actually has HUGE implications in so many areas. This, in my opinion, is enough to trigger drastic sanctions from the international community.

That, and the story I am almost finished gathering evidence for that proves China used disease prevention moneys it is spending in Africa to keep WHO from announcing a Pandemic in China months ago.

Wow. Can't say that I am surprised, though. This virus has done well to expose all of the corrupt so far.

I've said it once before but I think once this all settles we might find ourselves headed to war. I hope thats not the case, but China really screwed the rest of the world over.

How can you model or make any type of prediction when your test method is at BEST 50% accurate. China's numbers are useless in the face of such an admission. We need data from a testing method that can be reliable at least 95% of the time. Realistically for modeling the testing would have to be better than 99% acurate.


An addition: In fact all of the assumptions made in the article are bogus. To accurately make a model or predition you need to show that your data is both extremely accurate and replicable. The China data isn't worth being used as TP!!

Thank you for your addition! No, I didn't miss it. I just chose to focus on the fact that they admitted to lying about their own data. As for the failure of their test to accurately identify cases, I will comment that many parts of the world are using flawed tests, especially Korea (made in China). For Example, France has a 60-70% fail rate on their tests, and they are sending many people home who display symptoms, but do not meet criteria to get the treatment they need. (in most cases, breathing assistance)

This is part of the reason that the U.S. has taken so long to roll out testing. minus some kits that cost two arms and a leg, there has been no mass produced one here, but now there will be. The U.S> will have the most accurate numbers of anyone, especially as we test antibodies for recovered individuals/asymptomatic people.

Thanks for your reply. Your post helps explain why France has more deaths than the USA but has a third of the positive cases. People need to realize that this situation is not going to be solved quickly and that for all of the methods being used to combat and deter the severity or transmission of this disease are all likely: "Damned if you do and Damned if you don't"

Okay.. I'll be your huckleberry. What exactly does the success/fail rate of the Chinese test have to do with either my OP, or the link? The fact that the Chinese test is a 50% failure only proves that they either can't manage their own testing, or that this virus is still a work in progress. My OP, however, shows that China has been deliberately lying about their transmission rates, infection rates, and the severity of the virus. And they are admitting to it. This is huge for many reasons, not least of which is that it drastically impacts how the rest of the world faces the threat. If you need me to explain why, I will gladly do so.
Regarding the testing- that sucks, but not as bad as what I pointed out. One is deliberate, the other accidental.

...Unless that means there are a lot of asymptomatic deaths they're also not counting, the CFR in China must be very, very low. (Or China has also totally fudged the death totals)
