(The Washington Post, Mar. 25, Dan Lamothe)
The Army has launched an effort to see if retired doctors, nurses and medics who have served in the service may be willing to be recalled to military service, citing the “extraordinary challenges” that the coronavirus pandemic has created.
An Army general said in a message to eligible veterans that the Army is turning to “trusted professionals capable of operating under constantly changing conditions” and “reaching out to gauge the interest” of those who qualify. The solicitation, obtained by The Washington Post, applies to both retired and former officers and enlisted soldiers.

A little ol' recall to active duty is never cause for alarm. Remember: they have to ramp things up before it becomes a full-blown effort. What better way to get things into first gear and the ol' ball a rollin'?

Subject: Army Announces Voluntary Recall of Retired Soldiers for COVID-19 Response

The U.S. Army is reaching out to gauge the interest of our retired officers, noncommissioned officers and Soldiers who would be willing to assist with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic response effort should their skills and expertise be required.

These extraordinary challenges require equally extraordinary solutions and that's why we're turning to you -- trusted professionals capable of operating under constantly changing conditions. When the Nation called -- you answered, and now, that call may come again.

If interested and you remain qualified to serve in any of the following health care specialties: 60F: Critical Care Officer; 60N: Anesthesiologist; 66F: Nurse Anesthetist; 66S: Critical Care Nurse; 66P: Nurse Practitioner; 66T: ER Nurse; 68V: Respiratory Specialist; 68W: Medic - we need to hear from you STAT!

If you are working in a civilian hospital or medical facility, please let us know. We do not want to detract from the current care and treatment you are providing to the Nation.

While this is targeted at medical specialties, if you are interested in re-joining the team and were in a different specialty, let us know your interest.

If interested please contact Human Resources Command, Reserve Personnel Management Directorate, at [email protected] or call 502-613-4911, and provide your phone number, address, email, and MOS/Branch.

In my opinion, if they're doing that is because the worst is still to come.

In fact, here in NJ the peak in cases is expected in about 3 weeks more.

Only God knows why an old fart like me, with asthma, kidney problems and arthritis, still rolling and proud to keep producing to supply the markets.

God bless America folks.

Hard to say what that's gonna be, too.

I was working at Fort Bragg's Womack Army Medical Center at the turn of the century. Watched the Army recall retirees in their mid-to-upper 50s. Jaw dropping what happens when the Green Machine decides it's time to roll.
