SMS from UK Gov to stay home

Ok, I know this is a conspiracy site but this actually happened.
Had an SMS from UK Gov to stay home around 0830 this morning.
I have dual sim phone so thought it was a device wide thing.
Just had a second message to the second sim three hours later.
Speaking to friends who have not moved from home and they have not received any messages. Are we being tracked already?

No they said on TV a few hours ago that everybody in UK should be getting a message telling us to stay home.

Well they are hit and miss. Work and personal sims both on EE and hours apart for messages. Friends on other networks have not received anything.

I would imagine they are batch sending so as not to crash anything.

I've received one on my EE mobile, but not on my giff-gaff one yet. My daughter is on Vodaphone and she's had nothing, and I have sky mobile for my Ipad, and nothing on there either.

My wife got one of these as we left ASDA earlier.
I totally didn't go on about the government tracking her phone.

My eldest got the same msg and he stayed home.

I was at home when I received mine this morning.

Calmn down. It's a part of the new public broadcast system which now includes mass texts. No conspiracy here

We got the alert on phones, TV and radios last night for the shutdown here in Michigan.
It was pretty loud on my phone, kind of startled me when it went off.

We got ours.

I adjusted mine and sent it to my son (he’s a teenager). It worked, as we saw him briefly when he came down to have a moan at me for doing it 🤣
