ive always maintained that the threat of this virus is from the EXTRA STRAIN on the medical sector.. overloading the medical sector adds unnecessary and unrelated deaths.

you have never once considered the extra stress this virus will add to the medical sector, not once. you are wholly concerned about how the current deaths is less than flu deaths..

which i should also add, how many flu hospitalisations were there this month?? how many extra hospilisations has covid-19 added?? how long is hospilisation? where do people who have a heart attack go? stroke? serious car accident?

eta, thats not to say the CFR is not important, it is just too early to judge CFR.

I have not addressed your grammar. It's not really that bad.

It's just the way you try to put too many points in one post. It's called gish galloping.

So pick one. Let's see if we can discuss it rationally.

Holy # did you just use "gish galloping"? Christ Phage that is great

if we follow the 6,000-7,000 day figure then within the past 10 days NYC would alone contribute 70 thousand new cases .

this clearly isnt the case since the current total is 53,363. Hardly 70 thousand now is it?

Uhh... obviously not as the infected count is growing each day... a few days a go it was maybe around 5,000 a day, yesterday about 6,000, today 7,000, etc. Tomorrow will probably be anywhere from 7-8 thousand. The point was that currently the number of confirmed infected per a day is much much higher than the confirmed cases of flu per a day -- and all indications are that it's not slowing down.

And the point of looking at NYS specifically was to make it a fairer comparison, as covid-19 hasn't yet had enough time to spread through the population nationwide like the flu has... it's still very early days. Also there is no effort to contain the flu like there has been for the covid-19... if we had just let covid-19 spread through the population without any effort to contain it then it'd be much worse again.

first consideration is how many citizens are in the area.. given it is 8.623 million in NYC alone that number of 53 thousand is a drop in the bucket.

I can't tell if you're actually this dense or you're just playing the fool... do you seriously not comprehend that the situation is still just ramping up and in the early stages? It's 53 thousand today... what do you think it'll be in a week from now? A month from now? 6 months from now?

It's not just going to magically stop... and that's the entire point of enforcing strict measures to try and contain the situation and flatten the curve... as it is right now, in NYS at least, there is zero indication that the curve is flattening... it's remaining at a very steep climb, and this is despite previous efforts to contain it. That's serious cause of concern because the hospital situation in NYS is already getting pretty stretched at the current numbers.

I'll have to come back later to reply to the rest of your thread as it's quite long winded and I've gotta go for now.

Now at 10 per hour in New York State...

This is how fast it escalates, and why measures needed to be taken weeks ago, not now.

The number of deaths in New York State increased by 237 on Sunday.

Ha anyone seen any news footage of overwhelmed hospitals or social media videos of huge lines? I’m not finding any.

I can show you pictures of refrigerated trucks in New York bring used to store bodies...

um I hate to break it to you they have the trucks for (from the news article)

"New York City has bought 45 refrigerated truck trailers – each capable of holding as many as 44 bodies -- in case city morgues and hospitals become overwhelmed with the number of dead from the coronavirus"

with the explanation

" Officials stress that the measures are so far only precautionary, but the trailers and tents reflect both the feared scale of the epidemic in New York City and the precise lengths to which officials have been planning for the worst -- down to the temperature of the trucks."

here is the article link for accuracy checking www.bloomberg.com...

in short this is the action on PREDICTION . As been stated before on INCOMPLETE facts / information and NOT THE HARD NUMBERS.

Again hate to point out that the hard numbers are NOT SUPPORTING these actions.

instead of you continuing to claim the outright UNSUPPORTED BY FACTS of the deaths with EMPTY TRUCKS.

sorry but FACTS OVER HYPE

settle down there.

first did you actually READ the story you posted?

because you notice it was ONE NURSE without official permission taking a picture with NO CONTEXT to go by

I am not gonna try to say those are not bodies of corvid19 victims because you will scream "you are in denial" even though we have ZERO actual confirmed information.

now lets say they are bodies (which they may be)

were they REALLY NEEDED to be put there due to lack of space?

or maybe a reasonable alternative is not space needed but maybe separating bodies for an easy pickup by funeral homes so they dont have to go into the hospital?

maybe separating those by cause of death for autopsy, taking advantage of extra space for ease of access, or maybe even to somehow justify spending the money on the extra trucks.

unless you have some OFFICIAL information to present to show their morgues are overflowing your just making ASSUMPTIONS to support your view.

btw the ASSUMPTION they were used for 4 days is based on what official source

notice I commented on it without a personal attack and as a discussion ... try it you will like it

Wanna hear it reported directly from Trump himself?

More fake reporting right?

Ok did you view what you posted.

first comment after being asked a question is he "saw it on tv"

ok what show? that would be good to understand

what was (as I stated in before comment) why were they in trucks? context context context.

what was the capacity of the hospital vs the number of bodies . funny no figures available that I can find on internet search.

along with the big elephant in the room.. what trump has been saying has been BLASTED from start to now . Everything from "he lies all the time" to blaming him when some idiot takes FISH TANK CLEANER because part of it has a chemical that is being tested as treatment for covid19. Trump was blamed for it because he mentioned a possible (key word POSSIBLE) TREATMENT for covid19.

but now you gonna use him as a source for this allegations?

in either case the article you used his his OBSERVATIONS , not hard facts.

where are the hard numbers of capability vs number of bodies?

funny I ask for hard numbers and you give me a news brief.

Hard numbers:

Elmhurst was at 125% capacity 3 days ago...

So was its morgue...

The full-to-capacity morgue at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens is using a refrigerated truck to hold some of the dead.

www.google.com...

Don't like the WSJ?

City&State/NYTimes?

In the Times’ video, Smith also said that Elmhurst Hospital had rented a refrigerated truck to store the bodies of deceased COVID-19 patients because they didn’t have the space for them.

www.cityandstateny.com...

www.google.com...

At least two city hospitals have filled up their morgues, and city officials anticipated the rest would reach capacity by the end of this week, according to the briefing.

Or here you go... Call the Elmhurst mortuary dept yourself... Would you believe hard numbers directly from them?

foursquare.com...

Now go away troll.

if your definition of "troll" is one who calls out your sources , uses facts contained therein , and it destroys your point it was meant to defend.
then buckle up because about to do it again.

first of all your "sources" you use ONLY ONE can be viewed for reading/evaluation. That being cityandstateny.com.
the rest require paying for/subscription thus cannot be used for evaluation.

the one you have left CLEARLY STATED that the hospitals beds were full (to be fair and honest) but the refrigerated trucks were IN CASE (key word in case) they were needed.

the quote you gave claiming they were full was NOT from the article available and since cannot be checked is not valid as proof.

now the other issue with the article that was available is lack of detail.

on the full beds how many would have been sent home to recover instead of needing (key word needing) advance care. along with how many (given that alot of the symptoms are similar to the common flu and most are known gonna recover without invasive care) are being kept just because of tested positive or waiting for tests for covid19.

then the uncomfortable question why this is overwhelming but a standard flu year that has triple or more times people needing hospitalization and seeking medical care there was not a problem.

Now on to the morgue space... no hard numbers how many slots they have for bodies . along with when the almost 10x more deaths in flu season (along with other standard deaths like OD, murders, and just people died) they did handle it
if they also with other types of death how many times have they in a year been overwhelmed

maybe the space they have is small and ANY large amount overwhelms them .

again DETAILS.

but in either case you still have the basic problem of that in any flu season the hospitalized, requiring invasive care, infected and (sadly) dead of common flu by great factors are greater than corvid19 has been.

yet they seemed to handle it.

btw even the WHO say 80 to 90 or more are recovering with minimal care.

ever thought why??? how do you think they build hospitals?? they just randomly pick a number from a barrel and design the hospital based on that number of beds?

or do they have decades of data on required hospitalisations?

how much data do you think they have on covid-19?

btw even the WHO say 80 to 90 or more are recovering with minimal care.

great.. but how many require hospital care? and how long do they require hospital care? how many require intense care? and for how long?? why do you ignore this?

1/4 of the deaths in New York have been in nursing homes. The high death and infected rate is because New York has been testing people. Once other states start testing, their per capita infection rates will be similar to New York’s, New York acted early.

Not my fault you're:
a) too poor/cheap to afford to read it...
b) not intelligent enough to get around a paywall.

Morgues don't have a set body capacity.

NYC hospitals can handle a total of 900 bodies combined between all of them, according to NYC dept of health.

Btw: since you love comparing this to the flu... Those morgues had no problems keeping up with flu fatalities, did they?

They haven't set up mobile morgues since 9/11...

Please, keep responding. Your ignorance is on display like a fine art exhibition...

Oh...

And that last report saying two hospitals already had their morgues at max capacity came directly from New York City health officials...

So you've now said:
Patients are lying...
Nurses are lying...
Doctors are lying...
Hospital supervisors are lying...
Photos are lying...
Videos are lying...
The news is lying...
The President is lying...
And city officials are lying.

Go away troll... Before your ignorance rubs off on an innocent reader...

How very thoughtful of you to comment about me n a thread I am not on

I admitted from the get go I have no idea how bad this virus will be

I even admitted I could be ok with the policies being offered up by our government, if they were forced to answer basic questions before they did them

Many people such as yourself screamed you were so afraid of this virus you didn’t need the government to answer questions, and now we have millions going to the Kennedy center, and billions of other dollars in pork projects

Meanwhile selectively taking a day and saying how many people died an hour could also be done with the flu which has estimated to have killed possibly over 50000 people this year

Dr Fauci suggests 100 to 200 thousand may die of this

That is a tragic number

Still doesn’t justify giving the government a blank check and having them strip away our rights without answering basic questions
