Air Traffic in the New York area is being held or diverted as ATC is unable to staff properly due to a trainee testing positive. At some point there will be very little traffic in the skies it seems except re-patriation flights, medical, and military. Its almost like a post 911 deal. Im an in the flightpath for a major airport and the overhead traffic is almost nothing these days and its all 737 or smaller

Flights into major New York City-area airports were halted on Saturday, as the coronavirus continues to cause staffing issues at air-traffic control facilities around the country, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

An air traffic controller-trainee based at a control center on Long Island tested positive for the virus, COVID-19, the FAA said. The trainee hadn’t been in the facility since March 17 but the agency is working with local health authorities to sanitize and clean affected areas. The center is operational, it said.

That's still a big hit. A thirty minute ground stop is going to ripple, even with traffic as reduced as it is. That included Atlantic corridors and a chunk of the east coast. Thank God it didn't happen before flights started to halt.

I have important news that may come as a shock. Nothing we experience in this convenient life we live is a given. God has not actually given us any rights. Everything that operates in this world is operated by human beings. Despite some people not taking a pandemic seriously, the pandemic is taking itself seriously. Flights wont magically take place, trash wont magically be picked up, power wont magically be generated, water wont magically be sanitized.

As we can see there are repercussions to everything that is happening, repercussions that we didnt expect 2 weeks ago and more that we still havent considered. Nothing that is happening is a small deal that will shortly pass. We havent even begun to dig in and take this seriously yet. Monday isnt going to be a press conference when we get an all clear.

We are in trouble. The sooner we accept that the better.
