Wasn't Kenny Rogers one of the Country Music stars who avoided the party scene and limelight?

Kenny Rogers, a longtime star of country music, died Friday night, according to a statement posted by his family. He was 81.

Known for such hits as “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands in the Stream,” and “Lucille,” Rogers died peacefully at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., of natural causes at 10:25 p.m., the statement said.

Too young, an internationally loved musician and part of many people's childhood whom will remember his song's being played by there parent's before listening to some of them themselves when they grew up.

Let's hope the current and next generation discover his music.

Hopefully him, Slim Whiteman (my mum used to have some of his album's) and a few of the other greats are still making music on the other side.

Roger's was a carouser and famously vain. Was constantly getting plastic surgeries, tummy tucks, liposuction, etc when I was a kid (my Mom read those dirt rag gossip mags). So no, he definitely did not avoid the party scene and limelight.

Not really a Country fan but this song brought Kenny to my attention in the late 70s , great song sung with that great voice.

Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run…

Indeed.
