The USNS Mercy based in San Diego, California is just days away from deploying to help hospitals cope with the influx of COVID-19 patients. Its
unclear at this time where it will base itself but I'm betting the SF Bay Area. The Mercy will not be handling COVID-19 patients but rather allow
other patients that are not COVID related to tackle a variety of other medical issues. Ive been aboard the mercy as part of a tour years ago and
despite its age its an impressive ship
It is literally a self contained 1000 bed hospital complete with ICU's, OR's, and the like. It will be most welcome joining us on the lines. The
USNS Comfort on the East Coast will take longer as it was in maintenance.
