More 'help' from the UN. Their workers are out of control
and unprofessional. I wouldn't want them over here
'helping' in case of an emergency. But thankfully they
don't offer, do they?

Excerpt

Fox News

GOMA, Congo — Although U.N. peacekeepers were dispatched to the
Congo to keep order and improve the lives of Congolese, some leave
behind disease and heartbreak.

Juliette, a Congolese woman who had a relationship with a peacekeeper,
is the mother of one of an estimated hundreds of mixed-race children
abandoned by U.N. workers at the end of their 6-month tours of duty,
despite an official policy of no contact between U.N. peacekeepers and
local women.

"There is no help from the U.N.," Juliette said. "They just make women
pregnant and leave. They never take care of their kids."

The single mothers, however, are more fortunate than 17-year-old Bijou,
who said she contracted the AIDS virus from a peacekeeper — and has
since passed it on to her husband and child.

You 2 crack me up. Here you are painting the entire UN with the same brush because of the actions of some of the UN peacekeepers.
However, when the abuse scandal broke in Iraq and Gitmo, you 2 were the first to defend the US army and administration saying that it was just a few bad apples.

You can't have it both ways.

100% agreed with you sensfan, they are making a bad picture of an org. because a bunch of asshole are doing stupid things.
as usual we tend to forget what the good people are doing to help people.

The UN has problems starting at the top and, apparently, ending at the rank and file "bottom," just like the US military

And that would be .............?????

Stealing the billions in the oil for food thefts? Leaving Rwandans to die?
Somolians to die? Iraqis to die? etc etc etc. Did I forget any of the
'good' that the UN is doing??? If so, please feel free to enlighten us
on just what the billions of dollars spent at the UN is getting anyone,
anywhere. Oh ... except for Kofi Annan and his family. We already
know what he is getting from the UN. A bigger bank account with the
illegal booty he has stolen.

Dr, I suggest you do some research on the UN....they have peacekeepers, doctors, nurses, etc, etc all over the world right now doing very good and honourable things to help people, yes, even in the Congo.

I would suggest YOU take off the blinders and look at what is happening where the UN is "helping" people around the world.

Example.........UNICEF originally started to feed children......now funding abortions and letting kids starve instead of feeding them........You do some research there "girly".............

Guess what? The UN is corrupt everywhere and at all levels. The
top is stealing billions of $$$, the middle and bottom is out molesting
children, raping, running prostitution rings and leaving HIV and unwanted
babies everywhere. However, the US military personel involved in bad
behavior were a dozen National Guard people taking dirty pictures and
having a dog bark at hooded terrorists.

BIG difference. BIG.

I have no doubt that the majority of UN workers are trying to effect positive change, but the oil-for-food fiasco at the top and stories like the one in the current thread really taint the whole organization.

True, but my initial point is still valid. Why are people so quick to paint the entire UN with the same bruth, but those same people will defend the us military to the death saying the abuse fiasco is just a few bad apples?

I won't be so naive to say that the UN is the best thing in the world and aren't without controversy, of course they are. But they are also doing good in the world.

UN is doing a lot everywhere in the world to help people. the point is that everybody is seeking for UN support to do action (except one US president that thought he was smart enought to do it without ...).
so if you look the news anywhere for UN action you will find that they are doing plenty. the list of it would be a bit too long for here.
now about the story in this thread, it's a shame you are right but we should also look at what these news is and ask Fox to do a report on the good thing the UN did. it's because the media now show only the bad things that we have such a non-information in this world.

The UN is a waste of money.........

That's rule #1 of politics: Ignore things if they don't fall into your world view. Many are so clouded, not by a sense of feeling strongly about an issue, but rather by a desire to be "right" and have the organization they support "be right" that they are completely malleable.

No it wouldn't. Provide a link or two. That's very easy
and it doesn't take up any space at all.

Like I said, because it's the truth. Thousands upon thousands
of UN workers involved in a myriad of illegal and immoral activities
ranging from child porn, prostitution, theft of billions of $$, and so
on .... this doesn't compare with a dozen National Guardsmen
taking dirty pictures in a prison. Not even close.

Actually the statistical odds of some U.N. worker giving an African woman aids is like one million to one, however, the odds of an African female sex worker giving aids to a U.N. employee, officer, or soldier is 50/50. Not to mention 10% of caucasians are immune to HIV thanks to the black plague. Second in all actuallity a man can have unprotected sex with an aids infected female and has a 1 in 400 chance of catching the disease provided there is no rough sex causing the breaking of skin and no entrance into the wrong exit only area. Meanwhile if a woman has unprotected sex with an aids infected male she has a 50/50 chance of catching the disease if the male ejaculates inside her.
Even nature discriminates against females.
This woman was most likely selling her body for profit. Many of my white male co workers that have worked in Africa are treating like rockstars when they are stuck in Africa. The can have any woman they want. Just like black atheletes in America can have any woman they want. Its all about percieved wealth by the female.
