Super-rich adopt bunker mentality amid coronavirus crisis

Most people are stocking up on hand sanitizer and toilet paper, but the super-rich have adopted more extreme measures to ward off the coronavirus – including preparing doomsday bunkers, according to reports.

Robert Vicino, founder of Vivos Group — a California-based firm that builds underground shelters — said his company has seen a surge in sales of such bunkers since the crisis erupted, according to the Guardian.

In Indiana, the company has converted a Cold War bunker into a fortified refuge for 80 people — and is offering space in hundreds of bunkers in an abandoned World War II ordnance depot in South Dakota.

I've been hearing for years about super-rich types preparing for The End

looks like some of them are sheltering now

I expect to see a lot of them re-emerge in a couple months when this blows over (which I hope it will)

honestly I wouldn't mind having a fallback place myself

Money doesn't buy you peace of mind . And that's the most desirable thing at the moment .

Only morals humility and faith can buy you that , it's called redemption .

Lots of people are nice friendly and decent . They don't tend to greedy , paranoid or overly concerned about self preservation . But some are .

It better be plush in those bunkers , but even all goodly things you can gather to yourself , won't take that sense of insecurity away . In fact the more you have to lose , the more you'll worry about losing it all.
And , you can't take it with you when you go .

no but it can buy you a place to hole up. does it not. and when the dust settles and you kept your mouth shut, live in a place far from others, you can emerge and survive for a while without fighting with others for what little bit that might be left. that there can give some peace of mind for a bit.

that's true when there is are no shortages, say that when everything is gone.

And , you can't take it with you when you go .

no you can't, but at least you'll have it until that time comes worry or not. and you can still eat and be able to wipe your azz.

I've worked for some of the wealthiest people. They have a huge farm that grows their organic food, and a very capable security force. My bet is that they are on their farm with security deployed.
