If they could make a test where you pee on a stick and if you have Corona, it turns lime green. What’s life without whimsy

If there are 330 million Americans, 20-50 million criminals illegals, you would need multiple tests for each person.

Seattle metro has about 4 million people. If you shop 10,000-100,000 or even a million test kits, a majority won’t be able to get tested. What would you do to ensure a loved one gets tested? Lie-cheat-steak- hurt others - riot?

With limited test results comes down to

Will you be a crap parent / loved one or a crap citizen? Most people will be a crap citizen, so what do you do

You don’t make testing easy or prevalent . People made be mad ir scared. Those people will be key board warrior and fighters, a real shortage would lead to real warriors and fighting and would become a bigger/longer lasting issue

Why America won't test all 300+ million of us? Because their is 300+ million of us that's why. The resources required to do that would be akin to a 30 trillion dollars Medicare for all pipe dream.

Is it to hard to ask people to be responsible and go get tested if they think they are sick? Rather than implementing some authoritarian forced testing of the whole population.

They are refusing testing for people showing major symptoms in Washington.

They won't be testing anymore... We're on our own...

Nothing... what's the advantage for the patient? There is no known cure specifically for Coronavirus -- not this strain or any strain. Treatment would treat the symptoms with existing medications.

If/when there is a specific medication known to be effective against this specific strain, then testing might benefit the patient. But at this point, testing has no benefit to the patient.

How does not having oneself tested make someone a crap parent or citizen?

I don't even understand what you're saying here.

Don't just show up at your doctor's office or ER if you think you have covid-19. There are procedures in place to call first and you should follow those instructions to the letter. Showing up and demanding a test is pointless. Nobody has an easy/cheap test available to all comers and *IF* you really are sick you run the risk of infecting the entire waiting room/office while you prance around like a petulant five-year-old.

Also, learn to recognize the difference between fever and "not feeling good." Clinically, fever is charted because your body temperature is 101.5 or greater.

I repeat: There are no doctor's offices that have the/a test for covid-19. That isn't how it works. That is not how any of this works.

The first sign of covid-19 in an adult is generally high fever/dry cough/shortness of breath. Having a lot of congestion in your face + a runny nose = you do NOT have covid-19.

Cover your face with a tissue when you sneeze and immediately throw the tissue away.

Wash your nasty hands, especially between your fingers, between your forefinger and thumb and up to your wrists. Wash long enough to hum the refrain from "Ring of Fire" twice.

Stop touching your face as much as possible. Don't shake hands.

No you dont have to test everyone it could be done like the flu if your at the hospital your probly bad enough to warnt a test depending on what the doctor thinks you have

Keeping the number of people tested low inflates the statistics and is going to cause panic and chaos if that's not the goal

Lastly to say it cant be done well that's bs South Korea is a example of how testing should be done

South Korea is using a different test and they are actually being distributed to healthcare pros. Doctors here in the states are still ordering tests one at a time from their local governing authority in conjunction with the CDC.

Should we do better? Absolutely. But Doctors cant if they can't get the tests, period.

Not many people have it if you don't test.

See how that works.

I hope no one is blaming doctors there the ones who will risk there lives to save others

There's some speculation that billionaires are going to lose an investment if this bug is causing a pandemic (which probably everyone here knows has already happened).

This is deep-ATS CT stuff.

Kitsap Sun headlines:

Three Kitsap residents tested for coronavirus (3 days ago)
14 tests for Kitsap County pending, 4 tests come back negative (2 days ago)
Kitsap has seven negative tests for Coronavirus (1 day ago)

So yes, we are continuing to test. So far NOBODY in Kitsap County has tested positive. We basically have two groups of residents.

1) People who are going about their daily lives with no masks, no changes
2) People who are freaking out.

This is just another variation on the flu, people, one we've not seen before. In the 2017/2018 winter 80,000 people died in the US alone from the flu. Now a dozen people have died from coronavirus and people are freaking out.

80,000 people died of the flu in 2017/2018 and nobody said a word

There are zero hospitals testing for covid 19 in kitsap county. Zero.

They are all being sent off to a second-party facility to be performed.

Read the article you link.

"It is taking longer than anticipated to receive COVID-19 test results from the state public health lab," said Keith Grellner, health district administrator. "We are very concerned with the time it is taking to receive results and we are reaching out to the lab for more information."

Again. Watch.

So what? That doesn't nullify what I said. Does it matter so much t you WHERE the testing is done? You said testing was NOT being done, but it is.

You lied.

Your article was written before the Evergreen press release.

No test results have come since.

And yes, location of testing matters a # ton to how many have access to correct results.

Edit: I'm more than open to being proven wrong.

Don't use the phrase "you lied." That insinuates pre-planned wrongdoing. That's #ing rude.

You'd be shocked to hear that doctors and nurses are assaulted by patients every single week in this country and we still don't even remotely take it seriously.

It’s not in the best interest of the government to test people. Any large reported outbreak will tank the stock market. And that’s what they’re protecting the most. Never forget that with this administration it’s politics over everything. Before you, me, or any of us.

It’s smarter politically if they play it down and make people think that it’s not a big deal. So most people stay home when they get sick and don’t go to the doctor and add to the numbers. They don’t care how many people it endangers. Just that they still have the artificially inflated stock market numbers to wave around.

If you care at all about your safety, you won’t take as truth what the President tells you on this. This is the man who had an economic advisor give a statement on the virus. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Since it seems a lot of people aren't aware of why there was a shortage of test kits and why it was so hard to get one done, I figured I'd grab a pretty decent article that covers many of the points of failure causing the issue. The biggest being the CDC wanted to use their complicated fancy test instead of the simple proven to work one. Another issue is shortage of labs that have the means to run and read the test. Basically CDC dropped the ball and have admitted so much, albeit in a very beat around the bush round about way.

1. This is a viral illness, and what people need to get is that it makes little difference to you at this stage which viral illness you actually have be it rhinovirus, corona virus, or influenza. What you need to know are the signs that you need serious medical intervention before you go to a doctor or hospital for anything with flu-like symptoms.

2. Even *if* you have corona virus, there isn't a thing that can be done beyond treating symptoms. So if you have a mild case, you may as well simply treat your symptoms at home instead of taking your disease to the doctor's office to get told that there is nothing that can be done beyond write you a scrip for guifenisen and codeine syrup before sending you back home with strict instructions not to go anywhere for a couple weeks unless your symptoms worsen at which point you should call the hospital.

Since we've established that there really is nothing special that can be done if you have "it", then I"m not sure why so many are so preoccupied with knowing if what they have is "it" or not. If you did find out that your mild illness is "it", would then go home and proceed to make yourself even sicker because you worry that you'll up and die on the spot between one second and the next?

Meanwhile plenty of people here with lots of experience and knowledge have confirmed this isn't the hair on fire sky-screaming disaster that you want to make it out to be, because YOU are politics over everything.

Stop being a petty alarmist. Every post you make even remotely related to public health manages to damage your already near non-existent credibility.

You dropped your "this." The word you are looking for is "every." It's every administration, everywhere, forever.

The first rule of being in power is to absolutely avoid not being in power. From that, the rest of your thinking tracks but the last two lines are fairly hyperbolic, which is the biggest part of the problem atm.
