The winter is always a hard time for the NHS, the older ones take up bed space as they get ill in the care-homes or nursing homes and they think the best thing to do is send them to hospital and as this C19 is now out there, it's easier to self-isolate them than take up bed space for the more serious cases.
To the vast majority, it will/should be more like a mild flu.

What's wrong with you disinfo agents...

Disinfo agents? Oh my...

🧐 who's paying you

Oh dear...

🤬 is this what ATS has come to.....

From the newbie no less? Oh dear lordy...

...no wonder everyone's gone and disappeared off the site..🤔 or blocked..

Are you 5? At this point, I sure hope so, because with this attitude, YOU are your own worst enemy. Stop letting your fear control your thinking, put this into its proper perspective, and think about the big picture.

It is unreasonable and impractical to expect every patient to be quarantined indefinitely. Especially if your worst fears come true, and so many people become severely ill that they need hospitalization. OF COURSE hospital beds need to be reserved for the sickest and most vulnerable. If YOU get that sick, do YOU want to be turned away from the hospital because their beds are filled with recovering non-symptomatic patients being quarantined?

And I'm not ignoring how tyrannical it is to think you can hold recovering patients hostage for your false sense of security...

What you are expecting and demanding from government and other authorities, is absolute protection and immunity from Nature, and that is absolutely undeniably impossible. It cannot and will not happen. Not now and not ever. Not here, not there, not anywhere.

This isn't disinfo. It's just the cold hard reality. No one is getting paid to tell you the cold hard truth -- but you can damn well bet that others are being paid to keep you afraid of your own shadow and believing that you need the Nanny State to take care of you. And folks didn't leave ATS because of differing opinions... they're leaving because the level of discourse has degenerated into the same insults and rude comments and personal attacks that YOU are engaging.

What we should expect and demand is that government and other authorities empower US to do for ourselves and by ourselves, only depending and relying on others when we cannot do for ourselves. As in when we become so sick we cannot nurse and nurture our own bodies and sustain our own lives.

The first Brummie to contract coronavirus has been discharged from hospital to continue their recovery at home, the city's public health chief said today.

The patient will continue to 'self isolate', ensuring the virus does not spread further, and will have 'appropriate medical supervision', said Dr Justin Varney, Birmingham's director of public health.
www.birminghammail.co.uk...

Nice one I can't believe the ineptitude of these people, what happened to quarantine.

Isn't that what 'self isolate' is about , let otherwise healthy people take responsibility for themselves and keep precious hospital beds free for those who need them.

The hysteria over what is just a bad case of flu is ridiculous.

Not to mention that it is a simple fact that pretty much all of us will likely get this thing eventually. There are already several other corona viruses that circulate seasonally and cause minor colds every year. This will probably join them.

The truth is that most of us will likely get nothing more than a bad cold or flu from this, but our job is to slow the spread enough that those get worse can be sure to get the medical care they need.

If this spreads too fast, there could be too many severe cases all at once. And that is the real worry.

When it turns into something from a Mad Max movie, I'll fight my way onto a computer in my Tina Turner costume and post a thread to apologise but there are a few threads now about C19 and how bad it's going to get and we're all gonna die so there is a lot of fear-mongering and doom porn on ATS at the moment in my honest opinion.
From one fellow Brummie to another, it's Friday, get the beer in from the local outdoor and have good night.

Yeh but who's gonna listen to that crap, what's wrong with you people just turning it into a personal attack for posting this info, and warning people!

For Christ's sake, relax. It's not a "personal attack" for pointing out your lack of facts and sensationalistic post. The sky is not falling. The poor guy is sitting at home with nothing to do but watch the telly and you're acting like all of Birmingham is suddenly infected.

In all fairness it is scary to realize that modern medicine has some pretty big holes in it, and anti-viral measures is one of them.

All excellent points. Glad you thought to make them!

I've already seen a report that there are a few different strains going around -- one is particularly aggressive. The rest are no worse than any other cold/flu season. We're actually fortunate to be coming into warm weather sooner rather than later as well, thus reducing and minimizing the risk.

In the Winter of 2017-2018 80,000 people died of the flu in the US alone, a record for modern times. It's usually half that. It is reasonable to be "concerned" over Corona, but it is unreasonable to act like Chicken Little. If someone is so scared of this that they find themselves acting like OP, it's time to suggest they seek help from a mental health professional. IMO this kind of behavior IS THE PROBLEM and causes much more disruption than the Corona Virus itself.

Well we've now got two confirmed deaths from the Corona virus in the UK.

And guess what a hospital in Birmingham has released a patient back into the general public with the virus.... Well done guy's we all want a dose yay!!🤮😷 Nice one I can't believe the ineptitude of these people, what happened to quarantine.

But we'll be ok, " just wash your hands" everything will be fine. With over a 100+ cases already in just days.. it's ok nothing to see here. We're all in trouble because they don't give a crap. Get ready UK the cull has started. Peace👍🧐

Lighten up snowflake...It's just another strain of the flu virus...

Most people who get it don't get tested...Most people who get it don't go to the doctor...And none of those people quarantine themselves...

That's right Aunty listen to the law.

Mortality rate steady at 3.4% Recovery rate up to 55%

Gonna see an uptick in cases it's just now getting everywhere but no need to think dying time is here for all of us.

That's always been the case with viruses......and likely always will be, this one will come and go and another will be along before we know it.

In my opinion it will be natural disasters that take us off this rock, not viruses.

Look I think we've got off on the wrong foot. I ain't 5... Probably older than you. I might be a new poster/member but I've been coming to this site for well over 10 years so I know what happens here. I'm not here to make enemies. I properly joined because if this virus. Because I'm seeing things happening and ive got a feeling it ain't gonna be good.

So why can't we all just be friends. Everyone who comes here comes here for a reason, probably similar reasons. And we're all like minded and want to know what's really going on in the world. I just want a decent life without TPTB messing about with me, so come on guys lets just get along.

Boadicea you gave me some nice advice awhile ago and I appreciated it. Thank you for that.😸✌️ Peace.😎

Or he could be an honorable person of his word. Why assume criminal activity? Has he committed a pre-crime? And that's where it gets difficult. You want to quarantine everyone who tests positive? That's fine for a few dozen, or when they are conveniently crammed onto a cruise ship off the coast. What are you going to do with tens of thousands? Let's put the questionable legality of detaining people aside for the moment (Bear in mind different countries have different laws in this regard. North Korea just shoots you.) and focus on logistics. How are you going to feed everyone? Provide sanitation? The fact is we don't have 100,000 hospital beds set aside just in case of an epidemic. As societies, we do not have the resources to do that, and government are not "bad" for having failed to do that. They cannot. It's an unreasonable expectation.

But beyond even those issues, it is questionable whether any country CAN control this. It may be an illusion. Local hospitals simply CANNOT take care of this. So rather than fret about this, if you are scared of it to the point of immobility, quarantine yourself. I'm serious here. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or make fun of anyone. If you are worried, stay home. Take responsibility for yourself rather than depend on others and get angry at them when they fall short, which they inevitably will.

Probably what will happen here is that the virus will run its course. If the statistics we have are correct, it has a 3.4% fatality rate. We should and are develping a vaccine as fast as possible. It will be too late for some. Sometimes life sucks.

Can understand what you tried to say, If the said Infected patient was released (So to speak) and jumped on a Bus to go home and stay isolated, So much for Prevention being Better Than Cure. Nothing surprising these days....... Just make sure you Wash your Hands, what a Farce.
