Iran Link Link Link
Iran has experienced a significant increase in infections and fatalities, some of the infections are being found in government officials. Iran is now considered one of three major hotspots. Majority of cases appearing in the middle east are being traced back to Iran. Iran has decided against quarantine and put travel restrictions in place domestically.

Over half of the countries total infections are linked to the church. Authorities are still trying to locate 100's of members of the church who are not responding to contact. Japan has confirmed a recovered patient became reinfected. At the same time, China ordered all recovered patients to return to quarantine. Link Link

Officials in Osaka confirmed that a woman who works as a tour bus guide had tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time, further heightening concerns about the spread of the infection in the country.

The authorities in Wuhan on Saturday introduced 14 days’ mandatory quarantine for recovered coronavirus patients, after some discharged patients again tested positive.

Global Stock markets have continued a major down turn with the Dow Jones suffering its largest one day drop since the global banking crisis of 2008. Many are saying this is due to other factors (DNC debates, recession fears) but CoronaVirus anxiety appears to be hitting all countries.

Oil and other commodities have also dropped significantly as China's demand for resources to fuel its manufacturing base have ground to a halt.

Australia Link
Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared Australia on a Pandemic Footing and activates emergency response as the spread continues internationally.

The Prime Minister has also announced Australia is activating an emergency plan to deal with the outbreak of the coronavirus.

"We believe the risk of global pandemic is very much upon us and as a result, as a government, we need to take the steps necessary to prepare for such a pandemic," he said.

World Health Organisation (WHO) Link
In a strange development, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared it no longer uses the term 'pandemic' and therefore will not classify Corona Virus as a Pandemic. However they have continued to use the word Pandemic in press conferences.

GENEVA: The World Health Organization no longer uses the classification pandemic, but the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak remains an international emergency that is likely to spread further, a spokesman said on Monday (Feb 24).

China For some good news (if you believe the press) China is stating that daily infections and deaths are dropping. People are very suspicious of numbers. China allowed Wuhan residents to leave the city then quickly reversed the decision.

In an usual statement, the CDC has not denied Corona Virus can be transmitted via flatulence and that pants would stop that transmission route. Link

In a lengthy and seemingly humorous yet serious article on its WeChat account, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of Tongzhou district in Beijing clarified that farts, normally, do not constitute another transmission route of COVID-19, unless someone takes a good and rather close sniff of gas from a pant-less patient.

New Zealand has confirmed its first case of Corona virus with a patient travelling via Iran/Bali Link

She said the person was in their sixties, and was a citizen of New Zealand who had recently travelled from Iran via Bali.
They were in an improving condition in isolation in Auckland hospital after arriving on Thursday night.

France has experienced a dramatic increase in 24hrs with expectations the numbers are going to jump quickly Link

The coronavirus continues to progress and France is no longer immune to the rising counts. The number of people infected in France has increased to 38 confirmed cases, against 18 the day before, announced Thursday February 27 in the evening the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

United States officials have begun investigating how a person in California became infected with no travel to China or history of interacting with sick people. Fears that human to human transmission is occuring the US Link

California officials revealed only minimal details Thursday about what is believed to be the first case of community transmission of coronavirus in the U.S., meaning the patient was probably infected by someone in the general population. "We know that there were a number of days that she was in her community and that she then did begin accessing care," state Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly told reporters.

WIth the deadly drop bears and venomous kittens.. you dont need the invisible virus added to that.

I did think this was interesting...

Under complementary state government pandemic plans: sports stadia may be sequestered as quarantine sites; police could be ordered to guard critical medical supplies, and governments may order entire suburbs, cities or groups of people to undergo mass vaccinations (once a vaccine is developed).

Under worst-case scenarios being contemplated by state and federal governments, forecasts say a pandemic outbreak could last up to 10 months, and 40% of the country’s workforce could be sidelined by illness or caring for family members.

How do we know?

They didn't test for it unless you visited China, Wuhan to be exact.

I actually had a coworker send me an outdated youtube video of doctor Drew saying we are all over reacting. Lol. There were less than 10,000 cases at the time and China just completed the super quick hospital, or about to anyways.

This is the kind of American mentality we are dealing with here. People using old outdated info for reasons to downplay the situation. This is one of the ignorant misinformed reasons not to believe anything being told on national media.

Just found a story on the Washington times (credible source?).

It appears dogs at least can get the Coronavirus. In Hong kong authorities have quarantined a dog. Story below: www.google.co.uk...

Interesting spin If it’s true. I remember people talking about pets in China being killed in earlier threads.

Many countries with cases are reporting no deaths. If you want to believe some grand conspiracy for a whole bag of countries then you are free do so. No basis for it but go right ahead.

Focusing only on the deaths is shortsighted and narrow minded.

When this begins to take hold, there will be much more problems caused than those who die from the disease.

You might want to look up the concept of the, "knock on effect," in order to see that is far more than just deaths we should be concerned over.

This is a novel virus, which means we have no herd immunity to it, which further means it will spread very rapidly. Especially when we consider the fact that there seems to be a good chance that those who are asymptomatic could become super spreaders causing chains of infection which are difficult if not impossible to contact trace.

The R0 of the disease is somewhere between a little over 2 to as high as 4, according to the scientific literature. This means that each infected person will go on to infect 2 to 4 more.

Super spreaders are in a category entirely different; a super spreader could potentially infect dozens if not hundreds of others.

The symptoms are relatively mild for most, but not all who are affected by this disease. One paper indicated that as many as 24.3% of those infected become severe cases requiring intensive medical treatment. If only one third of the US population contracts this disease, and that percentage carries over, we would have around 26,222,130 severely ill persons.

Keep that number in mind while you think about this:

Total Staffed Beds in All U.S. Hospitals

924,107

Staffed Beds in Community 1 Hospitals

792,417

Fast Facts on U.S. Hospitals, 2020

The total number of staffed hospital beds in all of the U.S, is less than one million beds. Now consider the fact that as many as 80% of these are already occupied by all of the things that people are hospitalized for right now, and we have a huge discrepancy between need and availability of care.

But please, tell us how this is not a big deal nor is it something about which we should be concerned.

By the way, kudos to the OP for keeping us informed and giving us a very well presented thread in which to continue tracking this very important topic.

At least in Chile only suspected cases that turn out negative after tests. I don't buy it. Wait till March, then things might change. Look at my last post in the part 3 of the thread Post here

Also more than 260 people are being followed because they arrived from countries that have the virus. Do not know if they are in home quarantine or are free to move, they only said that they are in observation and are being called in a daily basis to check their status, and are required to wear a mask.
