Regardless of feeling toward Turkey an attack on one is an attack on all , I doubt Putin would take on NATO over a Syria it wouldn't make sense ... unless China are in on the deal then we're screwed.

I don't think NATO members are obliged to assist each other attack another country. They have a mutual defence pact. In this instance Turkey is in Syria and is the aggressor.
