That was one of the craziest rides I've ever seen in NASCAR. Not real happy with the way NASCAR handled it by pulling out the screens. As a result, I thought he was dead as did many others. Social media lit up with all kinds of misinformation most saying he had been killed. As weird as this may sound, I was glad to hear he was in serious condition with a non life threatening injury, which is much better than dead.

I wish him a speedy recovery, that was a couple of brutal hits he took.

Just saw an unofficial update that he has controllable bleeding in the front of his head, and serious bruising on the side and top of his head, but he was sitting up and able to talk.

Wow, I guess I'm not surprised there was a head injury.
I hope that heals up. Scary.

I heard there were burns as well, maybe some broken bones???

I Am still amazed he's not looking down on us, while talking to Dale.

I'd be shocked if there weren't broken bones. There was some talk of a possible spinal injury, but the post I saw about it said they expect him to not have any trouble walking from it.

That's great news!

Doesn't sound like he's out of the woods just yet though.

This just came across social media. He's walking around joking with staff and other patients, and playing with his daughters.

That's a testament to the safety culture in NASCAR. Years ago he pushed them to add another bar to the roll cage to strengthen it. They added it near the window and called it the Newman Bar. That very well may have saved him from more serious injuries.

Wow, that's crazy. Talk about foresight, what are the odds.

He was released from the hospital this afternoon. Ross Chastain will be substituting for him at least for this weekend.
