Let's preserve your proclamation for the sake of history, and see if you still feel the same way when the armed troops in the bio-hazard suits come knocking at YOUR door because you just returned from shopping at Walmart!

First off I don't Walmart, second I work with people moving worldwide every day. I don't do corporate travel because I'm old and grumpy and did it for years. But that said I am also just east of Chicago.

Time will tell and this place helps sort it out most of the time.

And what I meant about a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do is close things down (government) if it's that bad and deal with it

Maybe I spend to much time on this site but it does give off redflags.
But not because I think it will be the new spanish flu but because I think governments (including the usa) will use this to make a power grab.

A give up your freedoms for safety kind of thing.

The article does not indicate that this group of individuals are testing positive for the virus, however because they are evacuees from an area with numerous already infected, they will be isolated until showing no signs of illness or infection.

Not an ideal situation for anyone, but two to three weeks is not an eternity and those included should be happy to be back home, under care of specialists, and not to endanger any family or friends with infection if they were just released to the general population.

And the government imports its own pool of potential subjects to study ...

If China really isn't coming clean, and we cannot trust what we're being told about disease progression, then you import it and hope you can keep it contained in quarantine ... and you study it like mad before it hits your general population.

It might be the best hope you have since China won't allow in doctors to see for themselves and the stuff coming out of there looks scary but is also highly suspect.

It's a stretch but I will say this.

China is effected the least when something crazy happens to the world economy.

While concerning, for the moment I prefer them to be cautious rather than acting like they did with the people that were exposed to ebola.

We just have to continue paying attention to what they do.

I know this is probably the most rational thing to do in the face of this virus, but why am I feeling uneasy all of a sudden?

Because something spread faster than any novel virus we've seen in recent history...

There are 11k+ infected....

And since they can spread during incubation which takes 2~ weeks.... We won't know how bad this is for another two weeks. And that's the worse assuming it's starting to slow down.

So I hesitate to point this out, but frankly the more I analyze this map the more concerned I become.

gwis.jrc.ec.europa.eu...

Scroll to the Wuhan province area. Select the MODIS and VIIRS options, then compare now to 30 days ago or earlier.

Can someone who knows something about this tool explain this?

It just seems odd there's all of this burning in the last 30 days.

Summertime in the southern hemisphere. If you compared June & July in the north it would look similar in some areas.

I really don't have a problem but yeah it would suck but you have to know and be happy to be on US soil.

Okay...

First, you say you don't "Walmart", but I'll bet you do and don't know it. You have no idea how many other vendors Walmart supplies beyond Walmart...BECAUSE the global Walmart business plan has little (almost nothing) to do Walmart stores! The Walmart stores are just a sideline, a buffer. Walmart is a transportation and shipping empire. Have you ever seen a major Walmart distribution center??? Just one of them could supply every Walmart in North America, and there are dozens of them. Look at the one just west of Cheyenne Wyoming...there must be tens of millions of square feet under roof with thousands of trucks at any one time.

I could go into details, but Walmart is responsible for the establishment of the ISO-18000-6C technology standard which governs inventory control using an internationally standardized RFID format. They patented it, until it became a standard and suited them better to release the patent for international use and standardization. This is a technology I work in daily on a variety of fronts.

I could go on, and on, about Walmart, but when you see that Walmart store the reason you see it is SO far different than what most people think it's SHOCKING!!

Trust me, you don't have to set foot in a Walmart store to touch something from Walmart!

Not according to the fire forcast for the region. Look for yourself.

It's at the lowest level of risk assessment.

Actually they did quarantine individuals during the Ebola outbreak. Specifically, healthcare workers returning from providing care for those infected overseas. I remember one nurse who refused and was going to court over it. Will try to find an outcome in that specific case, but here is an NBC article claiming it was dumb and unnecessary.

www.nbcnews.com...

Not nearly the same numbers involved here but there were quarantined individuals.
