Amen. That and 'drive by wire' electrical steering control. Make it the driver who controls things, Not the decision of a servo that can fail or short out.

Why can't someone make a car with the great simplistic features of older cars, and the reliability of newer cars, and sell for a 'reasonable' price ?

Government regulations. A lot of the bloat and tech of new cars is government mandated. For example, back up cameras, ABS, etc.
If you want a simple car, you basically have to restore an older car. Pretty much any car after the late 90s is going to be a tech nightmare imho.
