If what he is saying is true - that they are not even testing people anymore to see if they have the virus, they are just sending them home and telling them to isolate - there is virtually no chance of containing the spread of it.

It almost sounds to me like they have written off Wuhan, and don't care if everyone in it gets infected, they are just trying to keep the citizens from leaving and spreading it elsewhere.

You only have to look at the scale of China’s reaction to understand how bad this is already and how much worse it is likely to become. Their actions are those of people terrified of what has been unleashed.

Many pages back I gave a few bits of info out gleaned from my sons friend, who is Chinese and originally from Hubei province. I haven’t heard anything since. It is worth repeating that he mentioned a certain amount of civil unrest, that the hospitals in Wuhan were effectively overwhelmed and that the military were removing bodies. This is from a source on the ground in Wuhan, in one of those hospitals. The death toll is higher than reported. He didn’t say whether significantly higher or not, just higher.

To me this is potentially way more serious than is being reported, but we will only know for sure in the next 7-10 days. This could be the big one. If the CCP admit it leaked from the Lab in Wuhan we could be in very big trouble.

This could very well be the end of the CCP. If the Government are hiding on an Island, pretending they are in control of this situation, they might as well stay there after all this is over.

I saw that Hong Kong is at their highest level of health alert, so I don't know what powers that would give the government there. They are taking steps to limit contact with China, but beyond that ... I don't know.

Report I saw is the the case in Washington is recovering well, and the 60-year-old in Chicago is also doing well.

So again, I wonder how much of what we see in China is the worst of it, and how many there had it and recovered on their own and we don't see them because they never showed up?

Make no mistake, it's bad, but are we missing the flip side?

I wish, but I don't think so.

They have a very large and powerful military, and they aren't afraid to use it. Only if the military was willing to rebel would there be any chance of a revolution.

Still ... nature is more than capable of this all on its own too. Given the setup, either scenario is plausible. I do understand which is sexier to a conspiracy forum.

I can imagine the mass hysteria over the virus right now is at it's peaks. With the hospitals all full capacity there are going to be those going in there thinking they have the virus when it could be a symptom of a cold or over underlying issue for example.

But with a case as serious as this nobody wants to take chances so they want to be tested. Sadly, those who do end up waiting in these emergency rooms that might not be infected probably will end up infected from close contact.

At this point containment of Wuhan has most likely failed and the numbers are rising so fast that they just cannot cope with the influx of people being quarantined. They will just start sending people home and telling them to quarantine themselves and treat it like you would if you had severe flu symptoms.


I'm from the UK and in a similar situation like this I believe our NHS would not be able to handle it and would simply collapse in this type of scenario. The advise here would be quite literally - Keep calm and stay in your own homes and ring a helpline.

reported that this is the 2nd death outside of Wuhan.

What was the first? Whatever happened to the young backpacker who was on a ventilator?

Just to give some perspective on why health care workers get so vulnerable during this sort of thing.

In one of the links above, it mentioned that workers at Wuhan Red Cross are so overworked that some have been wearing diapers. Process that and you can understand why you see them collapsing, and some are getting ill and dying. One died of a heart attack ... no wonder. That's a heck of a workload they are taking on right now.

Sounds like the flight for the diplomats had some extra seats so they have to fill it with other American citizens because it would look bad if they didnt. But they want to CHARGE the American citizens for the travel back? Got no money? Well I guess you stay here and die? If they can do one flight then they can do three and get everyone! The money could come out of a disaster relief fund.

Or their Social Security or SSDI and that is how the Embassies work in this case.
So, in reality, its always been who you know that can save you in cases like this.
