It was bothering me so I searched.

It was The Hunt for the Zodiac Killer on History Channel.

Thanks!

I'm off like a prom dress...

"Recently in the news". Ok, so Epstein? Prince Andrew? Trump?

I wonder if the FBI warning the family and suggesting they possibly leave town has anything to do with the fact that the only suspect, Paul Flores, isn't guilty. From what I can gather based on multiple reports, the family has tried to take Flores to civil court and even sent information of his suspected guilt to potential employers of his. Their ruthless campaign against him may have backfired. I have to say, most of these news articles made it sound like Flores was guilty as sin.

Investigators did locate one of her bloody earrings at a former residence of Flores...

Smart's disappearance remains an unsolved case, although compelling evidence was discovered that points to Paul Flores knowing exactly what happened to her. Although her body was never discovered, Smart’s bloody earring was found by a tenant at the former residence of Paul Flores’s mother.

From the wiki page on the Smart Case.

That evidence went missing later, so I guess it's not damning proof...

But why would investigators make that up? It was actually turned in to police by a later tenant so he'd have to be in on any shenanigans, too.

He was also the last to see the missing person. Alone. Late at night. With the drunk girl who had recently been passed out on a lawn...

Anyway, I'm still leaning towards the only reason the feds would do this is because they want to sweat the family or someone close to them.

Like maybe a boyfriend or ex of the victim who went to campus on that holiday weekend to "surprise" her and he sees her with new guy, drunk off her ass, makes assumptions and offs her after Flores leaves the scene as he stated. Something like that. I've not seen the case file, but hey, it's fun to theorize.

Abducted by aliens and now being returned.

The FBI didn't tell the family to get her life insurance papers in order, so you may be right.

Good points.

Based on your knowledge of this - what are your thoughts?

It really is *strange* to say the least...n'est pas?

Heres a few phrases that may become a hot topic in relation to this -

Electromagnetic Pulses.
Radio Transmission frequency.
Stargate portal.
Interstellar message.
Spaceforce.

I'm curious - why do you say that?

I don't see anything in any of the stories that would suggest any of those things...

🤔

Trying to see if somones in th family gts nervous to go check on body

That (at least) sounds logical - compared to alien abduction, Epstein being involved and all the rest of the hooey.

I tend to think she 'took off' somewhere (meaning the family isn't involved) but it really doesn't matter what I think, does it.

Will be interesting to follow for sure.

From the OP's link:

"This is really going to be something you don't expect. We want to give you the support you need," she said she was told.

Sounds awful smelly to me.

I didn't catch anywhere in the story that the FBI confirmed the statement or gave proof of identification to the Mother.

I'd start there.
