Breitbart And before any of you cry about the source, the article is on Breitbart but the primary sources are eyewitness video on Twitter and the Washington Free Beacon.

This is meant to be educational to all the anti-gun extremists here. Several gun control myths were debunked by this event:

1. The gun control lobby insists that the NRA is a crooked, even terrorist, organization that "buys" politicians off to stop gun control from being enacted. Despite that being demonstrably false simply by looking at the hundreds of gun control laws on the books across the country that the NRA was apparently unable to stop simply by paying people off, this myth continues to be pushed by anti-gun extremists.

But this shows the real reason why the NRA has power. It is an organization of voters. That is where its power resides. They represent tens of thousands of voters in every state and gives these people a collective voice. And what do politicians care more about than voters? What should they care about? Should they ignore the will of their voters?

2. Another myth of the gun control lobby is that most NRA members actually support "common sense" gun control, such as "assault weapon" bans. Despite there being no way to actually quantify this, since NRA member rolls aren't public and no media entity can actually poll NRA members, this myth is repeatedly bandied about by anti-gun politicians and pundits on cable news. How does this jibe with that myth? If NRA members that support gun control represent the majority of the organization, where were they? Only the ones who oppose this showed up to demonstrate? This was obviously organized in advance. Where are the "responsible gun owners" who would be appalled by their gun-nut brethren and would have wanted to come out and demonstrate that these gun addicts don't represent the majority?

3. I thought politicians who bow to NRA pressure are "beholden to the NRA" and "bought and paid for"? I guess all of these Democrats who withdrew this bill are now NRA-backed, right? Or did they just respond to the will of their constituents, like politicians should?

Let the denial begin.

I was over joyed reading that article last night. This is a stand against Soros funded attacks on the 2nd amendment via states, once he couldnt gain sufficient national traction.

We need this kind of win on the Left Coast where Soros and his ilk have their greedy claws into every liberal politician in government.

This is why we're allowed to have 2 threads on the same topic. That thread is simply relating what happened. This one is me explaining to the anti-gun crowd how it exposes the lies of the gun control movement. Unfortunately the fact that there was already a thread on it is probably going to derail this one, which is a shame because people really do need to learn how dishonest the gun control movement is.

I would not say where, but on Saturday and Sunday afternoons..... it sounds like the 4th of July fireworks. With combined use by both LEO's and Civilians enjoying their second amendment. Both together friends.

NRA's just a given here.

Well, "anti-gun extremists," like VA Governor Northam apparently think it's OK to demonize gun owners, by comparing them all to white supremacists who were involved in "the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago."

Fearing a repeat of the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam plans to declare a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.

bearingarms.com...

From what I read on many forums (I'm an NRA member), the 2nd Amendment rally was planned to be a peaceful demonstration concerning VA's new gun laws. The word was being spread to all the gun owners planning on attending this rally, to leave their rifles home and to instead carry their legal pistols.

However, the Governor is now forcing Capitol police, as well as state troopers, to disarm thousands of people. Seriously, what are they going to do if 25,000 people show up armed in defiance to this "temporary" ban?

Proud of Virginians and the way they handled this, nothing too disruptive but organized, adamant and determined their voices were gonna be heard.

Virginia is for lovers ...including gun lovers

Funded by voters AND the gun industry. I doubt the NRA just has the will of the voters in mind. Gun confiscation is obviously extreme, but i doubt the NRA cares about helping to put in gun laws that help all Americans.

Loose gun laws sell more guns. More gun sales equals more donations. More donations equal more executive pay.

Maybe im wrong, just my thoughts..

And fyi, im not a liberal who supports gun confiscation from law abiding citizens.

The NRA wasn't the only organization to have a presence at the Virginia Senate meeting.
The Virginia Shooting Sports Association was there, obviously, but also the Gun Owners of America (GOA) has had a hand in organizing the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary movement, nation wide.

Truth, there are numerous gun rights organizations that do this type of work. I just highlighted the NRA because they get most of the vile garbage from the anti-gun crowd and this exposes several points of it as pure bull#.

I'm sure you can quantify just how much of the NRA's budget comes from the gun industry? We'll wait.

I’m just gonna say it. Gun grabbing politicians are afraid of the NRA.

The reality is that the NRA wasn’t what needed to be feared. The local level organization that made most of Virginia green on the Second Amendment Sanctuaries lists. That local level organization is now a voting block that is going to put a whole lot of Richmond politicians into the unemployment line as their terms end.
