Theory - Pelosi Withheld Trump Impeachment Articles from the Senate to Help Candidate Biden.

When the House Impeached President Bill Clinton (12/19/1998), Speaker Newt Gingrich sent the 4 articles to the U.S. Senate for it's trial, just 3 hours after they were passed by the House.

But the current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, did not transmit the Trump articles over to the Senate when they were passed, on December 18th. In fact, here we are on January 11th, and she is still holding on to them!

There are a few theories as to why Speaker of the House has Withheld the 2 Trump Impeachment articles from the U.S. Senate for almost a month.

The most common theory is that she saw convicted felon John Dean on CNN say, "Speaker Pelosi should not pass the Impeachment Articles to the Senate until she is satisfied that Senator McConnell will hold a trial that is fair to Democrats."

Yesterday (Friday), Nancy Pelosi said that she will transmit the articles to the Senate "Next Week". She got no concessions or agreements from Senator McConnell.

"I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate,” Pelosi wrote in the letter. “I will be consulting with you at our Tuesday House Democratic Caucus meeting.”

Pelosi’s announcement marked a sudden reversal of her decision to delay the trial and try to force Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to commit to calling additional witnesses and evidence in the trial.

Senate Democrats pressured Pelosi to drop her attempt to draw out concessions from McConnell, an idea that she reportedly got from watching CNN.

Personally, I think she is delaying sending them to the Senate in order to help Democratic Presidential Candidate JOE BIDEN. Because...

The Senate impeachment trial will start sometime in mid to late January, instead of late December. There are 5 U.S. Senators running for President.

At some point in the near future, Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker, and Michael Bennet will need to sit, without speaking, through the impeachment trial, six days a week.

With the Iowa Caucus on Feb 3rd, and New Hampshire Primary on Feb 11th, all of those senators will probably wonder just what their party got in exchange for this three-week delay.

Because Joe Biden was President Barack Obama's Vice President, he's very popular, like his former boss. Due to this popularity, Biden is the Front-Runner in a still crowded field of Democratic candidates, in most states. But not in IOWA or NEW HAMPSHIRE.

Joe Biden is aging quickly, and showing it, just like Nancy Pelosi is. Pelosi feels "empathy" for Joe and did what she could to help him get the huge positive media exposure, and confidence boost, that an Iowa and/or New Hampshire victory delivers.

By keeping Senators Warren, Sanders, Booker, Klobuchar, and Bennet off the campaign trail during a 5 to 6 week* Senate Impeachment Trial, Pelosi has greatly increased the odds that her long-time friend Joe Biden will win the Iowa and/or New Hampshire primary.

*6 weeks is how long Bill Clinton's Senate Trial lasted. McConnell says he wants to follow the "Clinton Model" with President Trump's trial procedures.

Your references except maybe the Wall Street Journal are more bias than CNN is. That's pretty bad, considering CNN at least has articles unrelated to politics that don't have a clockwise or counter spin to them. I like the one about poor people getting the highest increase in household income on National Review. "Thanks to President Donald Trump's $1.5 Trillion tax cuts.."

I suppose that is possible, plausible even, but I think it's more likely that she just found herself in a no win situation after being forced into the whole fiasco by the ultra left.

She didn't want to go down that road to begin with, and now she's between a rock, and a hard place, with most of America taking a ****, or get off the pot stance.

One of two things happen when the articles hit the Senate.

Either there are no witnesses, and tge whole charade gets summarily tossed in the trash can, or there are witnesses, and the first one is Hunter Biden, who is a direct link to Ukrainian corruption, thereby proving the validity of Trump asking for an investigation.

The second one, perhaps more interesting, being the "whistleblower" himself, who would have to admit openly that there was coordination with Schiff from the beginning, thereby exposing the whole scam as being nothing more than bipartisan idiocy.

You could be right but I actually think they're holding off until the results of the 2020 election. I believe they are waiting because if they lose the big chair and Trump wins again (which is looking more and more likely) they hope to have taken the Senate at which point she will have the votes to Impeach, if they win then they will not bother and say something like "We got him out of the white house, that is what was most important" if they lose both they will then start slamming their heads on the tables. They will then put it to the Senate and when they lose that Impeachment vote they can start saying how corrupt the Republicans are.

They are biding their time (pun?) in hopes of a victory to the big chair or taking over the Senate otherwise they know that this whole Impeachment thing was a joke and a pointless task that brought nothing but less people voting for the DoNothingParty.

I don't think it was to help Biden - it was simply an attempt by the House Democrats to seize control of the Senate procedure and buy time to lobby/blackmail some Republicans like Mitt Romney.
What's playing out in front of us is NOTHING compared to the conversations going on behind the scenes right now.

Trump should have allowed Witnesses on the trial... As it is a trial...

And we all know MITCH already made it clear that he's not going into this lawfully since he already pledged his allegiance to the prez... Even saying so himself to reporters and the country.

Maybe the simpler answer is that Pelosi was trying to save face as long as possible.

Their attempts at forcing the Senate to hold a "fair" trial is ludicrous, especially when you consider how Adam Schiff conducted the closed-door, basement impeachment proceedings, which barred members of the Judiciary Committee.

Once the Senate gets the impeachment articles, it's game over for the Democrats.

The Senate will discuss and prove that the Dems push for impeachment was strictly partisan with no evidence whatsoever.

It can get real ugly if the Senate decides to call witnesses, which is what Trump wants. Trump wants to to hear from the whistleblower, including ‘shifty’ Schiff and the Bidens.

Pelosi knows this impeachment farce will implode in the Senate and become a complete embarrassment for her Party, just like the Russian Collusion probe.

As far as Biden is concerned, IMO he's toast. All his lies, flip flopping and odd behavior is sinking his presidential run. The latest poll shows him in fourth place ahead of the February 3rd Iowa caucus.

The witnesses were called as part of the impeachment process - controlled by Democrats.
There is no need or requirement for more witnesses in the Senate.
The Senate's job is to adjudicate based on the evidence provided by the House managers.
There is no valid reason at all for Pelosi to have witheld the articles.

I'm not sure Vodka pickled Pelosi has enough cognitive options to choose to do anything for any rational reason except for her over-weening treason; aiding & abetting MS13 & jihadi invasions on the payroll of El Chapo; as a 4th generation? California mafioso running California; etc.

Im not sure anyone can help Biden. Between his constant slip ups and his poor policy if he gets down to one of the last candidates I don't see him beating anyone else even if he is a more middle based compared to Warren or Bernie. Get them in a debate and I am not sure what he would say. People give Trump crap all the time for saying crazy things and acting erratic it would be no different with Biden.

The fact that Biden BRAGGED about corrupt extortion re getting the prosecutor fired investigating the outrageous corruption of his son Hunter--BRAGGED about it on video on stage at the CFR--and still is so brazenly noisey in his lying denial--does not speak well of him as a sane person. It had to be for helping one of the candidates, she was never get mitch to back down and surrender ground to her and she certainly wasn't going to be able to hold on to it till November.

So that leaves an attempt to help a candidate or she finally lost whatever wine soaked brain cells she had, cause it certainly wasn't to protect the constitution...

Whether or not that was Pelosi's intention, it could definitely have that result

She got suckered into going for impeachment by her inner circle but it was either that or let the squad take over the party. During all this she was the star. Unfortunately for her it backfired. The squad is back on the front page and making her look like a dope.
