I don't know if this is a rant really....it's almost comical anymore. This evening we were watching Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity shows...mostly because our normal Friday night comedy (Ancient Aliens) was nothing but repeats. True to form, they were talking about and playing clips from all the media hysteria over Trump's airstrike on Soleimani.

I turned to my husband and said....they should start a betting board on this garbage. I mean there's NO QUESTION that ANYTHING Trump does is going to be trashed by the media and the left.

Trump could cure cancer....and the headline would be "Trump bankrupting pharmaceutical companies and putting thousands out of a job by playing God"

So I often wonder if we should just make this into a really bad reality show/game show and start predicting the bad headlines. Turning it into comedy is one of the few ways of not letting the stupidity raise your blood pressure....

It is sickening the way many of the media companies twist the news these days. It is not only politics, it is twisting medical stuff about disease porn to make it so their main advertisers get noticed, the Pharma drug commercials are taking over the channels around here. There seems to be vaccine pushing, and all sort of news about diseases followed by an appropriate commercial in the next break.

Maybe some people cannot see the way they do stuff, trigger words set the commercials into play.

I see more truth in the Days of our life show than on the national news. Our local news is not too bad yet, but occasionally the guy giving the news does pass along something he knows is a lie, I know him personally a little and I know how he acts when he is not being truthful. he is so obvious, not really a good liar. Maybe that is why he rarely says things that he knows may be fake. The people on the national news are really good at lying, they have no remorse.

Democrats (and their PR arm, the media) have tried everything to get rid of Trump and haven't.

It infuriates them... they have had the power to emasculate and destroy anyone not Progressive for decades now.

Democrats have the additional problem of having a collection of abysmals for candidates for 2020.

So they are reduced to a simple equation to try to keep pounding on him...

"If Trump does X, say he should have done Y and say because he didn't do Y then he's unfit for office."

No matter what the topic just do that...

It's pathetic and shows how little the Democratic party actually cares for American citizens.

Turning of the tv was one of the better moves I have done, you get what you pay for. With the internet there are many other sources of information and news out there. A lot more opinions and evidence that challenge the official public media policy.

Being aware of the lies and misinformation is a good start, do you really want to go back to someone that does intentionally lie to you?

Whoever has the power should remove whatever law allows the media and others to use propaganda on it's own people.
Then everyone who took part in manipulating their own people for financial or political gain can be hung from a lamp post like they deserve.

I certainly agree with your general premise, that the MSM, as a whole/hole, is a clown show.

Having said that, I don't see how you came to that conclusion watching those two specific hosts.

Tucker is usually rational, and although I disagree with his position here, he was really expressing his distaste for war monger neocons, both past and present, more so than the specific action by the president here. He is generally quite conservative, and supports DJT 90% of the time.

Hannity backs Trump, and conservatism to the point of being a suck up, with almost zero objectivity, and that's my take as a Trump supporter.

Professional wrestling is bad reality TV... it's far more compelling than MSM news reporting...

...and, at least professional wrestling owns up to the fact, that it is all staged...

Coming soon, to pay-per-veiw... MSNBC's 24/7 "Impeachment Marathon 2" event. $49.99 plus taxes and fees... that is where "journalism", is headed.

Which way did you turn it?

I agree, I did the same with facebook et al, and it was the best move ever. Now I watch tv on demand, mostly.. anything newswise, I ignore. I do my own research, and more often than not find the truth. Or at least, discover the lies.

Political neutrality in the press is a must in any country.. how the hell would we know what is going on in the world and form our own opinions. Anything else then that should be illegal by law.

I have to ask, where do you get your research, that you completely dismiss the possibility of bias? Unless you somehow have the ability to do first person interviews, you are likely just fooling yourself, because opposing views make you uncomfortable.

What ppl usually mean when they take that approach is that they "research" only sources that fit thier predetermined agenda, and prefer an echo chamber.

I'm not going to argue that 90% MSM isn't totally biased, it is. I just don't see how insulating oneself is productive for someone who is not weak minded.

The phrases "know your enemy" and "keep your enemies closer" come to mind.

I'm not sure that is possible, in the electronic age.

In yesterday's world, where access was limited, primarily, to newspapers, and the local/national news hour, both sides of the issue were represented, for fear of alienating half the potential audience.

Now, any two bit outfit (CNN for example) can reach a hundred million viewers, and advertising revenue is easy to come by.

The media has been full of crapola for decades - it’s just gotten much much worse in the last 15 years.

My take on it is that the msm has to keep up with social media. In a world where any slappy d with a smart phone can espouse whatever the think, as forcefully as they want, classic journalism just isn’t as exciting as the rants you see from many users. On top of that you have the blogosphere which is basically unchecked in all ways - meaning it can be super sensational and also grabs your eyeballs (or at least the eyeballs of the biased and unthinking news consumer - which is the majority of people).

From my personal experience, don’t trust anyone in the media nor anything they say. So much gets omitted, twisted and blown out of proportion that largely what you hear is just plain false, biased and wrong.

People should boycott all things msm in 2020. Or at least be aware that the media is out to sell advertising, shape public opinion and distort your reality.

They suck. Badly. And they’re probably the #1 cause of problems in this country - yet few understand that. It’s gross.

The key is to look at multiple sources from both left and right.

Even though I tend to be right leaning, I usually still read more left leaning sources before forming my opinion. I read both the WSJ and NYT. I check out conservative blogs, but I also read left leaning media like Gawker sites.

The trick though is you have to know what questions to ask to really determine if you are being misled. I find a lot of people are really bad at statisics/math and basic logic. As a result, they often are easily mislead with emotional and hysterical headlines because they don't know what questions to ask.

I'm quite the contrary, my friend.... I don't believe anything that comes from the mainstream media and only about half that comes from Fox News or even Breitbart. I stopped reading Drudge entirely.....

Due to my work, I do get access to some information that is not skewed and biased but even in government people have political agendas and, unfortunately, everything has become politicized these days....

I just think it would be funny to fight back with humor and show these morons that we aren't buying the # sandwich they are hawking

It wasn't the points that either of those hosts were stating that I found comical.... It was the media clips from other mainstream media that they were playing which showcases the hysteria and propaganda being fed to the clueless masses.....

I tend to like Tucker better than Sean Hannity but I don't accept what ANYONE says blindly. After all, Fox LEANS conservative but is still owned by Murdoch whose sons are very liberal.

I'm not sure that is possible or ever has been. All human commentary has an opinion.... But that's part of freedom of the press and why the censorship on social media is so bad. Social media has become the new town square and where half the world gets its information. If they only see what one side wants you to see then we are no better than North Korea or China
