Pelosi sends 'Dear Colleague' letter about voting on impeachment resolution

Dear Democratic Colleague,
For weeks, the President, his Counsel in the White House, and his allies in Congress have made the baseless claim that the House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry "lacks the necessary authorization for a valid impeachment proceeding." They argue that, because the House has not taken a vote, they may simply pretend the impeachment inquiry does not exist.

Of course, this argument has no merit. The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment." Multiple past impeachments have gone forward without any authorizing resolutions. J

Given all the hyperbole from the Republicans, I thought this part was interesting: "Just last week, a federal court confirmed that the House is not required to hold a vote and that imposing such a requirement would be "an impermissible intrusion on the House's constitutional authority." "

The resolution establishes the procedure for hearings that will be open to the American people. My favorite part of the letter is, "Nobody is above the law". The way I see it, either people are for the Constitution or they are for dictatorship. If Trump did not break any laws then let it come out in the hearings. Everyone gets due process. I think Speaker Pelosi is doing a good job handling this issue.

Trump is given more credit than he deserves. The dems never needed a fake dossier and everything they got caught doing.

No, Pelosi is just making a huge fool of herself and a mockery of America in wholesale fashion.

It's more about right and wrong than what rules she can bend to the psychotic will of the democrat party at this point.

They know that the "sham" impeachment exists, they're just ticked off that it's another phony attempt by Democrats to take Trump out of office, just like they tried with the nothing burger Mueller investigation. Why should President Trump and his allies worry? Senate Republicans sure the hell aren't.

Not one senator was concerned about the impeachment process, saying they are most concerned about the Democrats’ ongoing attempts to impeach Trump based on no hard evidence.

It is a decision made by an Obama-appointed political hack that will not stand up in appeals.

THAT out of the way, Nancy has to put it to a vote because if she doesn't and rules don't get put into place that allow Trump his due process rights the Senate has already said it will just throw the results out.

I find it rather amusing that a Democratic socialist such as yourself doesn't like dictators, since that's what you are actually hoping to have in our country.

If they are basing the charge of "high crimes and misdemeanors" on the phone call, then all this is going to end up doing is losing the Democrats the House in 2020 as well as tanking any chances of a Democrat in the White House for a generation or so.

As soon as the evidence is collected and distributed the House will come to a vote on whether to impeach Trump. The problem is Trump admitted on national television not once but twice he broke the law as if it has no consequence.

So the question for you as a loyal Trump cultist are you going to put your country first by supporting the rule of law. Or are you going to put your party first and allow Trump to create a dictatorship that is above any laws? You don't have to answer. No, you are right. Trying to impeach Trump will most like turn out to be bad political calculus. I'm pretty sure Pelosi was very much against the idea until her colleagues kind of forced her to do it.

The thing is Trump is his own worse enemy. He really brought this on himself by making self-incriminating evidence. As I said baiting the Democrats to try to impeach may be his 3D chess move. And if this all turns out to be nothing but hay then Trump is pretty much guaranteed a 2020 win.

I would love to have term limits. And public financing of political campaigns. And instead of a 4 year election process just have the whole thing done in September and October just before the election.
