The Wicker Man. The original not the bloody awful remake.

How the heck are these not mentioned in this thread yet.

Candyman - 1992: No doubt, the BEST score of any horror movie, good themes, entertaining movie. (On Netflix)

Hellraiser - 1987: Clive Barker: Creepy and sadistic, good formula, terrifying, (On Hulu, I think)

The People Under the Stairs - 1992: Wes Craven: Scary without supernatural, kinda funny in spots (Not sure where to find)

The Gate - 1987: The first horror movie that I remember seeing as a kid. Scared the hell out of me. I was lucky enough to come across it later in life. Not as scary as I remember.. Almost comical now, but still a fun watch.

PS:
THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD S+F

First always for me will be John Carpenter's original Halloween.

A close second is the 1963 version of The Haunting.

Another personal favorite is William Castle's House on Haunted Hill. Vincent price at his best.

Anything from Universal's old 30s-40s monster catalog is great.

Surprised no one mentioned The Crow. One of my all time favourite films.

Yes those old Universals are spectacular.
I was considering adding "The Ninth gate",
as it is spooky, but not quite horror enough?
I'm a big fan of the Vincent price stuff.
The Pit and The pendulum era.

Freaks!
That old film 1932 is crazy!
Classic bizarro.
I'm a big Alice Cooper fan as well.
Early stuff especially.
Thanks for the Cult B Classic leads "Vampire killers"
and "Strange Creatures" I will check those out.
Time for you to get back up in your tree stand.
The rut is just starting out here. Probably in full
effect where you are. Thanks for the reply.

Agreed, those Vincent Price movies of Poe content are all pretty good. I also think the Hammer Films horror especially with Peter Cushing and/or Christoper Lee are good. Some of them pretty schlocky, but it was 60s - 70s horror. Good times.

Since I have some really obscure and traumatizing films in my library I'll keep those out unless someone is looking for suggestions. lol..

Good Halloween films..You can't go wrong with many of the classics

The Exorcist

Halloween (one of the the producers of Halloween + Friday the 13th among others graduated from a high school in South Jersey , where I live, which is where so many names in those movies come ..For example Haddonfield and Voorhees)

Poltergeist

The Shinning

Hellraiser I and II

For some more modern films..

The Descent (with the original ending)
A Dark Song ( atmospheric Irish film)
Train to Busan (well reviewed Korean Zombie movie)
The Wailing
The VVitch
Hereditary

Candyman (1992)

Opeth mentioned Hellraiser, which is another good one.

A few more.

The Watcher in the Woods (1980).

A few guilty pleasures of mine:

House of Wax (2005). Yeah, I actually really like that.
I also like House of Wax (1953), WaxWork (198?) and Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933).
Drag me to Hell
Eaten Alive (1976)
The Funhouse (1981)

Two Thousand Maniacs (1964) and 2001 Maniacs (2005, Robert Englund)

"Incredibly Strange Creatures", it's a weird low budget beatnick kind of film, similar to the original "Little Shop of Horrors", but worse than that. It is bizarre and terrible actually, but it messed with me.

A lot of weird old horror flicks left an impression on me. There was "The Torture Chamber Of Dr Sadism" (1967) starring Christopher Lee. Another Hammer horror actor, Peter Cushing, starred in "Dr. Terror's House of Horrors" (1965), the part with the disembodied hand gave me terrible nightmares as a kid.
