Jacques Vallee doesn't give too many interviews these days but here he is with Martin Willis discussing the (very freaky) Perez case which involves a young Argentinian gaucho witnessing several flying objects emitting strange beams of coloured light and a subsequent landed 'domed' object containing occupants.

Vallee originally studied the case and refers to it in his book 'Confrontations' - he also discusses other UFO reports from the same time and area and the upcoming documentary about the incident by Alan Stivelman ..as well as describing his own 'flying disc' sighting he had with his parents.

Jacques Vallée as our guest for the first half hour who discusses how he got interested in UFOs, his thoughts of the UFO subject in more recent times and the a particular case that we discuss further with Argentinian filmmaker, Alan Stivelman which is depicted in his film: Witness of Another World.

• For folks with further interest in the doco there's another interview here with the filmmaker and Rich Dolan.

Date:  September 6 1978

Location:  Venado Tuerto Argentina

Time:  0645A

Summary:  The young witness, Juan O Perez, had gone to gather a herd of horses and as he rode on his horse through the morning fog he felt something fly overhead, several objects then appeared and began maneuvering overhead emitting powerful beams of color changing light. His horse panicked and the witness barely managed to ride back home.

The boy’s father reprimanded him and ordered him to go back to get the horses. Back on the field the witness found a large round object on the ground, it had a dome on top with several round windows. A door opened and a seven-foot tall being wearing gloves and a cylindrical helmet appeared. The being seemed to be attached to the object by some type of breathing apparatus. He invited the witness inside.

They boy then tied his horse to a ladder and climbed in. Inside he was able to see a panel with buttons, tables and a small robot like being that was apparently busy at cutting into pieces, large bones of some animals resembling cows or horses, afraid the boy jumped out of the object to the ground. The tall being followed him outside. The witness then requested one of the giant’s gloves as proof of the experience, he then saw that the being had green claw like hands with blue metallic nails.

The being then pricked the witness right arm apparently extracting blood in the process. As the witness rode back home carrying the glove, two flying objects caught up with him emitting a small slab and sphere that descended and brushed by the horse pulling off the glove like a magnet. Another curious fact was that while inside the UFO the young witness attempted to touch the being and the object several times but was prevented to by what appeared to be an invisible barrier. (Six days prior to the incident the witness father had found a mutilated cow in a pasture.)

At first the entity gave him the glove and then they chased after him to take it back ? or did I misunderstand ?

That's extremely common with abductee / contactee stories. The "aliens" will frequently give the abductee something to prove the encounter was real -- very often it's a book of some kind -- but then when it's time to go the take it back. Bunch of Indian givers is what they are.

On a side note, I remember having a very vivid dream when I was a kid about going to a different planet (called "Dyka," FWIW) and on my way back to Earth I tried to grab a rock so I'd have some proof that I'd been there. "Going back" involved stepping through a narrow iron-looking gate, however, and I stupidly dropped the rock. I reached through, but mistakenly grabbed an ordinary apple instead. There was an apple tree near the gate on the Earth side. I was disappointed, but the apple was tasty.

Actually there was a case that a flashlight was given of all things, but was taken afterwards not by the aliens but by army guys, make of that what you will.

On a separate note the perez case, this guy wasnt alone when he saw the ufo, 2 others saw the same thing in different parts of the town,More in the video below

No that's pretty much it mate -as Blue Shift mentions, there are other examples of this in the literature (Dennet / Rosales) and other actual accounts from the same year involving occupants emerging from domed objects wearing 'helmets' and 'silvery suits' - if the witnesses are to be believed the I've no idea what's going on.

Good find there amigo and thanks for posting that vid - the sketches on the right in this report also show the objects seen by other separately located witnesses around the same time and area - also found Vallee's comments about Dr Salisbury's (great) book 'The Utah UFO Display' pretty intriguing.

More info on other activity in the area:

Within a three-week period in September 1978 there were four dramatic UFO cases in Venado Tuerto, a small town three hours southwest of Rosario, Argentina. In the first case, a young carpenter named Alberto saw seven objects and two beings on the ground. In the second case, a twelve-year-old boy named Oscar saw three objects and went inside one of them, interacting with a very tall man and a small robot. In the third case, a sixteen-year-old baker named Francisco felt intense heat from a luminous object during a blackout of the local transformer. And in the fourth incident, a twenty-three-year-old man who was driving at night was “teleported” over four miles and had to be admitted to a local clinic for chest pains.”  – Jacques Vallee, Confrontations – A Scientists Search for Alien Contact, p. 121 (Ballantine Books, 1990) (6)

Comprehensive article from David Metcalfe:

In 2003 Jacques Vallee and physicist Eric W. Davis translated details from these types of experiences into a 6-layer Model for Anomalous Phenomena for a paper presented at a conference hosted by the Centro Transdisciplinar de Estudos da Consciencia at theUniversidad Fernando Pessoa in Portugal. (10)

“The main argument presented in this paper is that the continuing study of unidentified aerial phenomena (“UAP”) may offer an existence theorem for new models of physical reality.

…the authors attempt to clarify the issues surrounding “high strangeness” observations by distinguishing six layers of information that can be derived from UAP events, namely (1) physical manifestations, (2) anti-physical effects, (3) psychological factors, (4) physiological factors, (5) psychic effects and (6) cultural effects. In a further step they propose a framework for scientific analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena that takes into account the incommensurability problem.” (11)

The experience of a boy in rural Argentina speaks to the possibility of new models of physical reality, new models of consciousness and new models of community – surprising associations for an event associated with a subject like the UFO phenomenon that has been cast off for so long by serious researchers.

I rented it on Amazon Prime; no sign of any 'free' availability at the moment.

I was in the mood for this film despite not knowing much about the case; Vallee's inclusion probably swayed it for me, and overall it's a beautifully constructed, gorgeously scored 78 minutes, even though there is no way of proving Perez's experience was physically real or an early onset of the vivid dreams he has been having since 1978.

Whatever happened in that field, I have rarely seen someone so profoundly affected by a such an alleged encounter. He withdrew from socialising and found communicating with animals more fulfilling, but this filmmaker at least cured his loneliness and paranoia that he was alone in experiencing the phenomenon. Indeed, hearing the wise words of his ancestors seemed to cleanse the fear of being declared insane - they had accepted these events for generations as natural contact between humans and the 'creator', at least in their interpretation.

I was oddly reminded of Officer Zamora's experience at Socorro in 1964. Although Zamora never entered a craft, he saw white-clad 'occupants' who, with hindsight, arguably resembled lab technicians. Could Perez have stumbled across an experimental project and seen US lab men inside?

The glove aspect if his story sounds dubious, more so than Perez claiming he saw an occupant cutting up animal flesh like a butcher - a variation on the cattle mutilation genre, for sure! The old footage of Perez getting the date wrong by two years was also a bit disconcerting. And when Perez was touching the craft's interior, the director was unwise to include a jokey (I assume this wasn't actually heard!) refrain of the five infamous musical notes from 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' (1977) which was still doing big business at the time of this incident.

A beautifully made film with plenty of philosophical angles to explore, aided by Vallee's contributions. The lack of firm evidence will aggravate some viewers but, as the OP in the locked duplicate thread said, this is much more about People and the effects of UFO experiences on their psyche, whatever the explanation behind them may be. Each case of this kind must be considered on its own merits, and Latin cowboy Juan's case is more interesting than most.

Saw the film yesterday, sailors of torrential waters avast ye

Anyway beautiful documentary, other documentarists could learn a thing or ten, cant say i understood what happened in that field to perez but the trauma was there and affected him profoundly. He ended living like a hermit just like others(that chilean? guy who had a weeks worth of mustache grow and others).

But in the end i get the sense that he got "cleansed" or wasnt so afraid atleast after meeting the shamans of his people. Might be one of the few if not the only documentary that tries to tie the paranormal somehow with ufos.

Another interesting aspect not only in this case but in others aswell is the profound fear many have after encounters. Cant say in perez case the fear was justified but thats me.

Anyhow documentarists out there take notes from this one,imo well worth a watch

I have known Juan Perez since the time this film was being produced.
I am a journalist focused on issues such as ufology here in Argentina and I have interviewed Juan several times on my YouTube show.
Knowing him personally, I have no doubt that his experiences are real, especially as a result of his work with the psychiatrist Nestor Berlanda.
Juan has had several more encounters, including an abduction and I have videos with first-person statements but they are all in Spanish, that's why I don't post them here unless you want to see them with automatic subtitles translated. a reply to: karl 12
