Ban Trump's Twitter

In the last democratic debate Kamala Harris asked Elizabeth Warren why she wouldn't support suspending president Trump's Twitter account. Elizabeth fumbled in her response to defend not going after Trump's Twitter and I was shocked at why the hell this is even a thing.

I'm not a fan of president Trump or the number of ridiculous and silly things he has said in public, but this is a country of free speech. Calling to suspend people's twitter accounts based on politics is a rejection of free speech in my opinion. (Edit: twitter has the right to ban folks, but I am referring to the moral obligation of corporations to uphold the principles of the U.S.)

We should have a independent or democratic candidate worthy of challenging Trump, but instead this is going to be another popularity contest that results in another uneducated, emotional, and party-bias election.

I don't understand why so many democrats are taking the ticket to crazy town and missing their opportunity to simply out-debate and out-wit trump. I guess no candidate has that ability.. They all seem to be leeches that jump on the next trend which may boost up their polls by 5%.

I know there is a lot of pro-trump people on ATS, but I think we can agree that it would be good to have a serious opposing candidate that could debate issues with intelligence, and not rely on these cheap tactics.

Anyway, my main creation for this thread was why the hell democrats are starting to think it's okay to supress free speech.

I think her thinking is that without twitter Donald Trump would be forced to hold press conferences like a normal President. Which means he would be forced to explain himself and be open to being asked questions. Which would make everything he does pretty much fall apart.

That being said I'm not for taking away his Twitter account. There's no better enemy of Donald Trump than himself. That he actually makes spur of the moment policy decisions over Twitter is enough to completely delegitimize anything he does. And like the lemmings that follow him he lacks the self awareness to realize that.

So, keep tweeting Trump. The best part is that every single tweet is being logged and saved as official Presidential statements. They'll be a constant source of laughter and ridicule for years to come.

For some reason there are people that believe silencing the opposition is acceptable.

As for the left, all they do is say TRUMP SUCKS! Instead of telling us what they are going to do for the American people.
That will win trump the 2020 election.

Why do him the favor? These people really do want him to win, don't they? Either that or Trump hired these goons to muck up the primary like the DNC pushed him as a pied piper candidate of the RNC primary in 2016. Or they're just simply this stupid.

Simple concept they run. Accuse someone of hate speak and cut their cord to answer back.

It has nothing to do with being pro-Trump, it is a tool used to silence those who do not follow the mainstream agenda. You cut them off with an accuse and then you leave them to defend themselves. Once that accusation got public enough, it does not matter if it is true or not. People will associate it with the name.

Rhetorical, but I have taken great pains at defending free expression for everyone.

If we control what people say, then we'll never know what they really think.

I think they are just politicians. I like some of their views but they just tend to suck when it comes to standing out as unique person who stands by what they believe.

America needs a good debate and not another, "you and your party suck", "no, you are your party sucks!" debate..

They have nothing they can run on besides resisting trump, not a single plan they have put forward will get a majority of voters across all states to vote democrat, so they must try to shame/browbeat people into voting for them by attempting to crush anyone that doesn't immediately tow the line of trump=hitler.

I don't know.. I understand attacking your opponent to a degree. But debates should really be intelligent conversations that explain how each candidate will better improve the country.

Trump is his worst enemy, but he is also his best friend. He simply doesn't ever apologize or retract wrong statement and that works for him.

However, democrats double down on their extremeness and push people away, like myself. So I can't even justify voting democrat even if I disagree with Trump.

Kamala is just jealous because she can't gain any steam on Twitter 😃

Yea.. it's sad. It's the party of "do you hate trump, well me too, don't forget to vote for me!" party. Democrats are running themselves into the ground by slowly joining the fringe leftists.

It's disappointing that they think they can only win by pushing hate against Trump. Trump is definitely not the best president and has a lot of flaws, but candidates never expose the misdirection in his policies without resorting to emotional bias it seems like.

I'm just shocked how no other candidate didn't say, "wait kamala, wtf did you just say?! you want get rid of his free speech?"

Unfortunately I am not, how many spoke up after Hillary was anointed 3 years ago... they defended screwing Bernie. ( I wouldn't vote sanders, but he got hosed)


Its not good for our country we need some balance and if the democrats are going to insist on being the party of crazy we need a third party desperately.

That's your decision. I could never agree with that though. The shredding of the constitution, the human rights abuses towards immigrants, the arguing in a court of law that the President is above the law, the kowtowing to murderous dictators, the trillion dollar tax break to the 1%, the laughingstock Donald Trump has made this once great country into..

All of that is more important to me than how Democrats make me "feel". But I realize not everyone is like me.

Trump's offenses are point in time "How can he be so crass?" infractions without long term ramifications to this country. Nothing he has supported has fundamentally changed the fabric of this country and, if anything, it has mostly just sought to return to the way we did things not that long ago with both parties full support, before the last 20 years of political insanity and globalist asshattery enveloped the nation.

Those running for the Democrats are putting long term, fabric of the nation altering plans out there which are deeply offensive to the history and founding principles of America as a whole. We are not a socialist utopia, and not that long ago even proposing such ideals was enough to get someone booted from either party by a vast majority of American voters expressing rage against the idea of communism or socialism taking hold in the USA.

You are either delusional or acting willfully ignorant, no other president in recent time has held more press conferences than POTUS. No other POTUS has answered more direct questions from the press than DJT.

No... it's not a violation of free speech. 1st Amendment only guarantees freedom from prosecution and bars congress from making any law prohibiting free speech. Twitter can ban whomever they want... it's called Capitalism.
