As I posted. Investors wanting the company to cut dead wight. As other wireless companies and cable companies replace telephone land lines as a choice.

I can tell you in my opinion Verizon and ATT are probably going down hard eventually because they are more expensive than any other competitor and the "great service" they used to have has been destroyed by woke-ism.

Not sure why all these large mega corporations are so "woke", but they are, and customer service suffers deeply because of it. So me, I would rather pay less for the same #ty service. If they could go back to the service they had say 10 or 20 years ago I would be tempted to come back.

You asked another poster for backup on the number of jobs lost at Verizon. I provided the number cited in the OP's source.

Can you cite a source other than your friend?
While cable based information and internet phone services replace Verizon. And I thought Verizon already sold off their land lines to Frontier?

This is the initial round from last year. They plan to continue this into 2021-22.

Does the jobless dead weight impact the economy in a net positive or negative manner?

Yet it still works. What good does knowing that the media or the government is lying to us if we still do their bidding?

At least those that are not "awoke" have a valid excuse.

Depends if the economy is growing in other areas.

Are you saying the telecommunications industry as a whole is shrinking?

No. You are trying to imply that Verizon is laying off cause of an economic downturn which is false.

www.channele2e.com...

Verizon Communications says roughly 10,400 employees will participate in a voluntary retirement package that runs now through June 2019. The telecom giant, which currently has about 152,300 employees, says the voluntary layoffs are necessary amid Verizon’s effort to realign its business ahead of the 5G wireless network era.

Snip

Verizon is still growing but the company — like many telecom firms — has been working overtime to address market shifts and next-generation opportunities in software-defined networking (SDN) and more.

Verizon’s Q3 2018 revenues were $32.6 billion, up 2.8 percent from third-quarter 2017, the company said in October 2018.

Verizon, like the broader telecom industry, largely missed an opportunity to dominate the cloud services era — leaving the door open for Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, in particular, to gain critical mass on their own. Amid that reality, Verizon sold its data center business to Equinix in mid-2017.

It does suck for Verizon workers. But the Verizon layoffs are not because of a whole telecommunications industry downturn. It’s because of shifting markets by competing technologies, mismanagement, and missed opportunities.

In regards manpower the numbers are saying that it is shrinking.

That’s called automation.

Okay. The layoffs at Verizon are still adversely impacting the economy. Unemployed people obviously spend less than gainfully employed people.

You are mistaken. If I have something to say I say it. Perhaps stop making untoward inferences and assumptions and stick with what people post.

Neither is the situation or the vast majority of the examples given in the OP source a result of Americans trusting Trump more than any given media outlet.

This is what you posted.

Celebrating these continuing indications of a coming downturn in the economy seems counterproductive.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

The job losses in the opening post, and the Verizon job losses you invoked, have nothing to do with an economic downturn.

Again..

It seems you want an economic downturn that is not there for political reasons.

Present some evidence besides your opinion that my response to the OP is not factual. You claimed that my quote regarding the readily available information on Verizon layoffs is related to my original post and your claim is false.

Why on Earth would I want an economic downturn? That's patently absurd. Again, stop trying to read my mind and make an argument based on what I actually say not what you think I mean.
