Maybe we should be kicking Turkey out of NATO.

That, and maybe the US should also leave NATO.

Just saying. It is an outdated alliance.

You make a valid point. However, if the EU portion of NATO decides to do more than be a lazy welfarist state and take responsibility for their security, we might be able to work something out.

NATO can be valuable. But it desperately needs to be reformed.

You are a voice of reason. Touche' … but yeah, it needs reformed at a minimum, truly.

At the very least (should the unverified exclusive turn out to be true).

My biggest question is if this did happen, how under NATO protocol two members in the same theater weren't communicating operations and coordinates.

"By mistake" would seem to be over polite for gross neglegence at best.

Are 75 armored divisions sitting on the east side of the Iron Curtain?

NATO is obsolete. Just declare victory and move on.

The Pentagon has repeatedly urged Turkey to halt its operations and, though he initially signaled support for Erdogan's plans following their phone call Sunday, Trump has since threatened to sanction the Turkish economy if the country's military action did anything "off limits."

Furrowed brows incoming. If it gets really bad, a finger might get wagged.

Maybe he should draw a "red line"...

We abandoned Syria because they weren't going to buy the MIC's weapons until they could kill some Kurds. People are upset they are buying Russian weapon systems and we have F-35s to push. (Not like selling one of your most advanced weapon systems to a group that deals with Russia will come back on us "sarc")

The whole pulling out of the ME is bullsh!t. Just ask the nearly 2000 soldiers we are sending to Saudi to protect their oil. PMC's were meant for that kind of thing, but it is much cheaper to offer our soldiers lives. We are still in Afganistan, right? Yeah, I thought so since there are some rare eath minerals there.

Just listen to this two-faced bastard selling the F-35 and spit on those who fought with our troops.
Lindsey Graham dishes on Trump in hoax calls with Russians

Well yea, obviously. Shelling our Special Forces is probably off-limits unless it’s an accident. # happens, y’know?

Turkish forces have fired on a declared U.S. military outpost in northern Syria. Turkey knows all of our locations down to the precise grid coordinate as confirmed by SECDEF and CJCS only two hours ago. This was not a mistake.

Coalition official tells me after Turkish bombing near US base Mashtenour hill: “They know we are there, we told them our position. There’s no other target in the area. They’re trying to drive us out. If Turkey can get us to leave so they can seige Kobane, it’s all over.”

It's building the excuse to put more troops in - what Trump tells the public and what happens in reality is very different he just hopes the public are too thick to read data/Trump veto-ing congress' bill to stop arming Al-qu'eda/ISIS/ISIL in Yemen etc..

He claims the US defeated ISIS despite it being a largely Russian and Kurdish effort with the Kurds holding over 10,000 ISIS members in jails, the US granted ISIS fighters 'safe passage' to leave in Southern Syria instead of capturing them or wiping them out - gave the nod to Turkey to start war/ethnic cleansing of the Kurds to create a 'safe zone' in northern Syria.

The elephant in the room is what happens to the kurds following yet another betrayal (probably the most betrayed group by the West) and ISIL fighters. History has repeatedly shown where all this will lead.

Standard US operating procedure since the late 50s. The US agreed not to interfere with Saudi Wahhabism, militant islam as long as Saudi continued to supply the US with Oil and are still honouring that promise with Trumo personally veto-ing any attempts to break it (same as every other President has).

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Turkey is well known for their "oops" moments .
They shoot down Syrian aircraft .
They shoot down Russian aircraft .
On and on.
Looks like it is becoming habit instead.

People who dispise all those pesky dislocated refugees showing up at their border asking for help shouldn't be playing any role in creating more refugees!
And, destroying cities to drive out its inhabitants thus dislocating them so you can insert your share of refugees in their place is just insane..

Addendum:

U.S. forces say Turkey was deliberately ‘bracketing’ American troops with artillery fire in Syria

Turkish forces who launched multiple artillery rounds near a U.S. Special Operations outpost in northeastern Syria on Friday have known for months that Americans were there, according to four current and former U.S. officials, raising questions whether Turkey is trying to push American troops farther from the border.
