A former law enforcement man and his scientist wife were camping at an RV park in Ohio last September, when one night the man is waving a flashlight at planes over head. Next thing he notices off in the distance a very bright white light that proceeded to come closer and closer to where they were at. It came within about 50 yards of the couple, when out of sheer panic the man reached for his.45 handgun, and this is interesting, the man felt unable to use the gun or lift his arm. Can't say I have heard anything like this before, or rarely. The object suddenly took off at incredible speed according to the witness, and disappeared out of view.

The witness included a sketch of the incident. I noted he said his dog was acting funny and wanted to go inside the rv during the encounter. He also mentioned other animal noises quieted down just after the ufo took off at incredible speed. Size of the ufo was estimated at about 20 feet around.

Witness sketch of what he saw and what happened:

I saw exactly the same thing in 2008.

I posted on a thread about it here.

just read your post. Your sighting sounded very much like this particular sighting.

Shouldn't this be in the flashlight forum or the bright white lights forum?

It's not evidence of anything, it's just a story...without evidence.

Too bad the guy couldn't shoot it. Although my guess would be that it wouldn't have done anything. I suppose it would be hard to get a clean penetrating shot on a sphere, even with a .45.

From OP;

A former law enforcement man and his scientist wife were camping at an RV park in Ohio last September, when one night the man is waving a flashlight at planes over head.

From OP's source;

....My husband had been shining his strobing flashlight at various aircraft flying overhead just prior to its arrival.

Why would a former law enforcement official be stupid enough to shine a light at aircraft passing overhead?

That's my only question at this point, I can't move beyond that.

Interesting find, data, also the similarities to alldaylong's sighting.

Reading NUFORC's report, it seems the wife's account is directly followed by the husband's, but since it is all one paragraph without quotation marks, the structure is confusing.

I'm not surprised the wife initially suspected a helicopter was coming their way - it would have served them right after hubby was shining his strobing flashlight at overhead aircraft like a drunken pillock! After the wife describes its appearance and approach before it shoots off to the west "at a phenomenal speed", the husband's story begins - seeming to rewind the timeline and describe how the animals had gone quiet and how his gun arm became paralysed before the light sped off west.

However, he also says his wife had "bailed and escaped into the RV" before it left, so was she repeating his own account of the final stages? Or am I misreading that report?

The light's "circular, one dimensional" shape as if "cut from a piece of paper" is interesting enough to discount Maverick7's criticism of this thread.

There also seems to be a discrepancy in the report as to who is writing it; Hubby or Wife? Both?

While enjoying our campfire at Gallia County Fairgrounds, listening to the coyotes in the valley, we both saw a small, dim, white light appear above the tree line to the south of our campsite. It began coming towards us, getting brighter and brighter as it approached. My husband had been shining his strobing flashlight at various aircraft flying overhead just prior to its arrival. I began to worry that this was a plane or helicopter that was going to attempt a landing in our vicinity. It cleared the tree line and dipped downward, traveling across the field and straight toward us. It was moving slowly and stopped several times on its approach. It kept getting brighter as it came close, a brilliant white light in the shape of a circle, the white of an LED bulb. It hovered approximately 50 yards maximum from where we were sitting. It appeared as a flat, circular, one dimensional, brilliant white light that looked almost like it had been cut from a piece of paper. It hovered for about 8 seconds before shooting off to the west at a phenomenal speed. At this point my wife bailed and escaped into the RV. I noticed that all of the animal sounds had quieted. Dead silence ensued. Unsure of its intentions, I reached for my 45 caliber handgun on the picnic bench next to my chair. I was unable to lift the gun as my arm seemed to no longer function. Panic hit me at this point. The object quickly shot off to the west, dimmed and was gone. The next morning, I surveyed the area, took some photos. I estimate that its diameter was 20 feet or larger.

Having said that, I don't necessarily doubt them as I've seen an apparently self-luminous white light that "floated" around in the sky like a soaring bird when they meet head-on winds and bob around a bit before finding a thermal through it. After a bit of that it leveled out and went overhead without sound and continued that path out of sight.

I don't think anyone is trying to convince anyone else that their story is true...Those millions of us who have seen UFOs don't need picture proof...We relate to these stories since we've experienced the same things...

I thought the same thing. Red flag.

ETA: Also, the witness report/description- the person writing it first says "My husband was ..." and then a few sentences later says "My wife was..."

So who wrote it? The husband or the wife?

thank you. The two things about this case that stood out to me were the fact the man was so terrified by what he was seeing went to raise his arm and ready to shoot, but was not able to. Very possible in the sheer state of being highly unsettled his body would not cooperate, but you never know, and also the reaction of his dog and hearing other animals I am assuming at the campground become totally quiet as well. Reminded me very much of what happened at Rendlesham as we all know.

I cannot understand why anyone would be flashing a strobe light at an aircraft, it beggars belief...unless there is something I don't know about. As for the husband/wife switch, I think it is two witness accounts with no paragraph break or indication of a change of viewpoint.
