Would it be possible for a malevolent group to attempt to destroy the world's largest rainforests?

Now, I'm obviously not saying that that is what is happening.

There are fires regularly occuring across the Amazon and the Congo each year. This is nothing new. Fires also regularly break out, for whatever reason, across Siberia.

Let us imagine for a second that an Active Apocalyptic Group[s] (AAG[s]), a well-funded and well-organised cabal or cabals decided to begin "mass ignitions" of fires across the world's largest rainforests in order to quicken the end of "life as we know it". Is that possible? Too far-fetched? Highly unlikely? Would mass burnings of the world's largest rainforests actually have an effect on us/the planet?

An AAG differs from PAGs; a PAG being Passive Apocalyptic Groups. PAGs could typically be religious groups of whatever religion which simply proselytize or preach about Armageddon but do not actually actively try to bring about the demise of humans or Earth or quicken the end of "life as we know it".

Not only possible but happening.
The "malevolent groups" are the big agro corps,and their ideology is greed.

And what about Madagascar? you do know that people burn forests to plant crops and then the ground turns sterile ?? and this happens all over the world....

Yes it does happen but it never use too. The Aboriginals for example would burn the land but they did it in a different way to the settlers. This intern caused a lot of harm to the ecosystems. The amozian rainforest use to be farmed thats how the tera petra soils formed. Again it was done in a way that never caused massive harm to the ecosystem.

Back to OP. We are experiencing ecosystem collapse. It is happening around us. Business as usual.

I wonder if "aliens" could be terraforming the Earth to their needs?

People are burning the forests to create grazing land so they can raise cattle and possibly not live in poverty. It's their land. They legally can do whatever they want to with it. Nosy, self-appointed guardians of the planet environmentalists just have to go fish.

I love plants and trees, I even have mental talks with them, they never answer back Barr the odd breeze. But I will say it doesn't matter if you burned it all down it will grow back, stronger more vibrant and resilient...
Plant life was here before humans and will be here after.

According to some recent LIDAR studies of the rainforests, exactly that kind of thing has happened in the past. There used to be large swaths of empty, open land cleared by some of the area's earlier inhabitants that can be seen beneath the current canopy, and over time the rainforest simply grew back over them with no problem.

It's ecofascism. In the U.S. the number of recycling and materials use laws just keep growing. They use emotional appeals and say it's all about saving the planet, but all they're really doing is trying to reduce raw materials costs so big companies can make more profits. It's just a matter of time before we start invading other countries because they aren't being good envirnomentalists. Never mind that it really has no recognizable effect on the environment / climate.

A couple days got a meme (that I will not post for obvious reasons) that said:
