Anakylosis is the belief that all governments follow a set cycle..

It is very similar to an extension of the “wood shoes/silk shoes concept”..

The thought that a rough neck “wooden shoe”culture would conquer a region, but then become complacent and start wearing silk shoes . Only to be then conquered by another wooden shoe culture.

Now most modern philosophers do not really agree with that but I digress...

Well the Greeks had a cycle they thought all governments follow..

1. monarchy -some charismatic leader basically takes over.

2. kingship- the charismatic leader takes absolute power

3. tyranny- the charismatic leader begins abusing that power

4. aristocracy- the best of society put down the tyrant and take control.

5. oligarchy- the aristocracy brings abusing their power

6. democracy- the populous seized power from the oligarchs

7. Mob rule- the populous devolves into mob rule.

8,1) was rinse repeat..

A charismatic leader seizes most of the power.

And it is pretty fair to say that at least America followed that very same path..

So are we on the precipice of a mob rule that takes us back to a monarchy or are those damn Greeks just crazy?

When was the United States of America a Monarchy or a Kingship?

Can you highlight the time frames for those steps?

Don’t get me wrong.. I am half way playing devils advocate, but you have to see the benefit of raising your leaders from birth , specifically to lead..

Now in practice this works great for about 2 generations if your lucky.. most have fallen or been taken as a puppet monarch by the grandchildren, but on paper it makes perfect sense..

Now why are the grandkids useless when the grassier was a great warrior king???

Maybe great leaders are just super rare so the mathematical probability you get more than 2 consecutively is just astronomical..

Maybe they become “silk shoe” kids..

Maybe everyone else is so jealous they hate on him..

One thing is for sure... do not fall for the hype that any political system is flawless or the obvious choice...

All are crazy flawed and when democracies go bad... they go real bad..

Aka the nazi’s and confederacy

Before they separated from England..

The American revolution would be between numbers 3 and 4..

The aristocracy the founding fathers..

The oligarchs the plantation owners and robber barons.

Democracy after the civil war and maybe in the middle of mob rule now

I posit that the US actually was Mob Rule before it became a Democracy. Many of the acts that lead to the Declaration of Independence were groups of disenfranchised people sinking ships, tar and feathering officials, burning houses, and writing treasonous pamphlets - "Mobs."

Since the United States of America was formed (I'm assuming that's what you meant when you said America) it has been exactly none of those styles of government.

Worst.

OP.

Ever.

/facepalm

Before they separated from England..

Mistake 1
The US was a colony then . Not under its own rule.

Mistake 2

The American revolution would be between numbers 3 and 4..

So a break from tyranny was tyranny ?

4. aristocracy- the best of society put down the tyrant and take control.

Not aristocracy , a Republic was formed .

Mistake 4

6. democracy- the populous seized power from the oligarchs

Democracy (more accurately a Republic) happened shortly after step 1

You have a lot to learn on US History.
Ignorance Denied
Taking a break now.

Please point out to me when America became a Democracy.

Thanks in advance...

Like all of it, I'm assuming from the OP.

THIS is why Democrats still get votes.

An entire subsection of Americans who don't actually know a f###ing thing.

~sigh~

I was once the same.

Nice part is, I didn't need a 12 step program to get out of it.

I just got disgusted at the stupidity of my "peers" and left.

Personally, I loved all those 12 step programs....

Great place to prey on those vulnerable women.

Ohh, and Jesus....and such....

The real fun is when you mix 12 step programs like alcoholism, drug addiction and sexual addiction together in the same facility.

Sounds like a killer party to me!!!

Are you being pedantic? The US is a Proportionally Representive Democratic Constitutional Republic. Does that help?

Or how about the definition of Democracy - Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives. Does that help?

John Adams called the new country a Representive Democracy.
The Federalist no 10 called for a Rep Democracy and outlined how it was better than a Pure Democracy.

Well I am counting the revolutionary war as the step from tyranny to aristocracy...

They literally left asking, and were ruled by the “best of society”.. the politicians, generals and businessmen who won the war..

ITV was the same human beings who once followed a king they considered a tyrant, right???

Then they went and formed a republic and put themselves in charge?? Right??

That’s an aristocracy..

Then the planters and planters and robber barrons held all the power after their deaths..

Before the civil war and an actual representative democracy kicks in..

That is literally play by play..

It's called a Republic.

The Founding fathers abhorred the idea of a Democracy.

Which is why originally it was only used to pick people for the House of Representatives.

I blame the public school system for your post and have no ill will towards you.

Just... please start reading more about the topic.
