A stunt to try and persuade the President not to use Twitter - or have it suspended/taken down as a national security issue.
Important for an election year.
Not even the slightest chance Jack was hacked.

Looks like they spoofed Dorsey's phone number to gain access.

Not sure if they could do it with Trump...

Sad part is, would we be able to tell if they were more subtle than with Dorsey.

But it should send required verification data back to the real phone, not just look at a number and believe it is correct.

I believe there's a way to sms a tweet via text per the article.

I don't use Twitter though, so I'm not fully aware of how that works, or if you can disable it.

That isnt really what the article says though..

It gives two possibilities starting with the first that the attack vector could have been via Cloudhopper which is an old acquisition for Twitter.

Next comes this direct quote ,"another possibility for the hack: Someone spoofed Dorsey's phone..."

At this point both are theories and more info is required.

Anyone who just believes a phone number in data or caller id is writing an insecure process. If it was that easy it should be abused all day long. Like you, I don't know the design.

Edit forgot to add link you do have to have the phone number associated with your account. So I suppose that is in lieu of turning off the capability, just disassociate the phone.

SMS spoofing at wiki.

So spoofing the sender id can be done so relying on it can be an issue. It's probably not going to be done by someone using standard software on phones. So twit may be relying on it being good when it can be compromised with some creative software.

Probably done intentionally so they can now blame the "bad" people and thus censoring is OK 😎

Let that one sink in, the CEO of Twitter admiting he's a drug pusher.

Technically he is. Dopamine is one of the most potent and addictive drugs there is. So much so that I'd argue it has a grip on more people than all other drugs combined.

Yeah, but rarely do you have to lay down, bum up and plug dopam... wait, twitter.. that's all it is, really...

Used to be the domain of the likes of bluelight, though...

He hashed tagged the "N" word in there. I'd go into hiding if that happened to me. Then again, I don't have a Twitter because I'm not famous enough.
