It's an Armenian Alphabet Memorial. I think it's just the 36 letters of the alphabet.

Armenians pulled down the huge statue of Stalin in 1962 and replaced it with "Mother Armenia."

Maybe a remembrance of that or the other reforms happening then?

I think this is the reason for the creation of OP's pin:

"In May 1962 – the year of 1600 th birthday of St. Mesrop – the basalt obelisk in the shape of a huge open book with Armenian inscriptions was erected."

Yes, it does appear to be the alphabet on the OP's pin. Do you agree?

This was fun!

Got it! it's pronounced:
"nuqDaq 'oH puchpa''e'?"

Translates to:
"Where's the toilet / bathroom?"
in Klingon

The numbers....362....wouldn't be Armenian numbers. Sounds kind of strange that the letters match but not the numbers.

Why would they? We use Arabic numbers in English. So does Russia.

That was awesome.
Thank you all so much.

I'd looked at Armenian online last night - but whether it was tiredness or the fact that some of the text seemed more modernised, I was struggling to make the connection.

You've all done well!

Christian/ Catholic calendars go by the Gregorian calendar; hence 1962-362=1600. The pins and medals were created to celebrate the 1600 yr birthdate of the Saint Mesrop Mashtots who was widely known as the inventor of the Armenian alphabet.
