People can debate the meaning of freedom but we can agree that it is relative isn't it? What is clear is that America is far more free because Americans actually have freedoms of speech and armed personal defense. British subjects do not have the right to bear arms nor the freedom of speech. They are demonstrably less free. Having a document saying they have the freedom of speech is invalidated by their so called "hate speech" laws. The only speech that is ever in jeopardy is objectionable speech. No one tries to use the government to silence love speech. North Koreans have the right to free speech on paper as well. If you can say the wrong thing and go to jail then you don't have freedom of speech.

Whilst I understand the superficial take on these events ie "soft overthrow" of Communism, one can't help but observe the same play throughout. Once "freedom" topples the barriers western Corporations are then free to have a field day, without the standards applicable to the same type of industries in the West. No unions, low wages, slack oversight of contamination, etc.

However there are things that mitigate against that happening, which is a good thing.

Hong Kong is not in the middle of Beijing, so there's that. Hong Kong is an international city with connections every where in the world. ...and a population north of seven million--that's a lot of people to try and suppress.

But, the Chinese communists are not known for their good judgement in these sorts of matters...

You are correct, He never said you see someone has an extra coat then you should simply take it for yourself nor for another. He never said you should save your rich brother by taking all his wealth and force him to follow.

Communism and government socialism is coveting. Completely against what Jesus spoke about and one of the commandments of God. Good works are meaningless and destructive if forced. Plenty do good works of their own free will. Force is not needed.

Christ died for us, he came to set us FREE - state communism is not freedom it is a reborn serfdom were the state - the party - the elite in charge of the party ultimately own the people which makes it a contradiction in term's when it claim's to be socialism which it is not.

Christ said give he did not say take but the apostles would point out that each should take only as they have need if all wealth was stored in common as it may have been in that particular early first century Christian community so greed was frowned upon particularly as Christ said his kingdom was not of this world (Because it had rejected him) and taught us to despise and reject the world (or rather the material world and the garnering of many good's - the rich man whom stored up all his wealth into a barn then died before he could use it), he also said as you treat the least of these (the poor, the sick and the needy, the homeless etc) so too do you treat me - so he very much put's himself in the place of the poor and the most needy, as for taking that is how he died on the cross the greedy took his clothing and gambled for it (stock markets and corporate economy's and huge private pension schemes that end up making the rich richer or fold by the time you retire leaving you the more poor than the hedge fund managers with there schemes the merrier).

Freedom yes but there are rules, we are not all perfect but we have a forgiving and just God but he does not like those that are neither hot nor cold, those that try to walk both sides of the road so you are either a Christian or you are not, you do not have to be a perfect Christian because if you are genuine in your faith then Christ makes you perfect in him.

But freedom has it's limit's, Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Apostle whom was filled with the holy spirit so in affect they lied to God by lying to his servant, they had some much but kept a sizable portion aside for themselves which would have gone better to ensuring the community was cared for so as they lied they simply dropped dead.

But Christian's are also told not to cast there pearl before swine, there is a reason or this charity begins at home and by that I mean you look after the body of Christ first, your fellow Christian's but that has to be moderated in that you do not walk past the man whom has been robbed and left lying in the dirt, the good Samaritan is the model all Christian's should strive toward at the very least but to be Christ like is far better than that.

In a truly Christian society there would be no poverty, yes there would probably still be rich and poor but the poor would not be homeless and starving or in rags.

The closest any nation got to realizing this was in the Christian socialist ideology of western Europe in the short decades following world war 2, Britain and Scandinavia were fine examples but Atheists and Secularists destroyed the model that those church going socialist leaders had tried to establish and then came the rape the economy years of the 1980's and onward up to today were in the UK as an example homelessness has soared out of control, food bank's are even having to provide food to working family's not only the unemployed and social housing is now almost non existent compared to what it was prior to the right wing rise of the 1980's.

Even our bishop's were standing up and berating the government of David Cameron before he resigned because of the harm he was doing to the poorest and most vulnerable in our society - yet he attend's church does that mean he is a Christian or a hypocrite.
