There seems to be a preponderance of doom about some of my friends on Facebook and here. Much centred around the current state of politics and is permeates my feed daily.

For those of you who weren't born in the 1960s I'm afraid its getting somewhat tiresome.

You might no like your president or your PM - but some of us have seen that rodeo before - anyone ever learn about the Bay of Pigs or the Cuban Blockade or the Falklands?

Some of us have lived through those times and yea we are still here - some of us even took degrees studying how this stuff happens and have first hand details.

Climate Change - who has studied the cyclical changes of the planet and realises burning forests and grasslands is actually a normal process for indigenous people?

I might be wrong but what I seem to see the same malaise settling into the millennial generation.

You didnt start this fire it was always about so please dont try to own it.

For what its worth on October 27th the Sun rose.
On September 12th the Sun rose
On 8th of July the Sun rose

Malthus predicted in 1798 the human population would out strip this planet - 1798 = 221 years later we are still here.

Space X and USpace are pursuing some of the greatest enedeavours so far and ar ready to put us back on the moon - a thing i personally whitnessed in 1969.

Maybe its time to wind back the doom porn guys - tey being humans again rather than borderline manic depressives over mostly things you dont have control of?

What say you?

Wish you luck on that one....

Doom porn is all the left in America has to run on now.

It's not like they have any actual ideas that would help an American citizen anymore, much less the country.

SoOo no... we will have a whole lot more of this, pushed by the PR arm of the Democratic party (the media) through 2020, into 2024 and will be there pretty much forever now...

Because millennials have mostly been taught a leftist revision of our history, have the attention span of a hummingbird on crack and want free stuff now.

The left got the Department of Education it paid for... now we as a country are going to pay for it.

A sad state of affairs and we're stuck with it.

Hear you Brother but im concerned about this generation - my daughters 21 - who believe this doom c**p

Ive seen things in the 80s that make what they see on TV pale

I have scars on me from REAL incidents that make worrying about Trump insignificant

and they still buy Lattes from Costa and tell me how we are destroying the planet and Trump and Boris are the antichrist

It's amusing in some dark twisted way to keyboard warrior against the communist hoard!

It's a diplomacy of sorts.

Posting, virtue signaling about capitalism vs communism substitutes from the bar room brawls and street fights that Antifa has so graciously taken care of!

I saw the first Moon walk too! That was awesome! So much American pride then.

These things are bothering you for a reason. We are in uncharted territory now. Things do feel different. Imnot so worried about the Amazon, but the left has never drifted so far before. Im preparing for the worst, but not worrying or letting me be affected in my daily life. You should do the same. What ever happens, you will be ok!

55 here so understand you.

Have scars as well.

My 5 kids and the older generations in my family are eaten up on politics now....

I don't really remembering caring about them at all till about 2007.

ALL this doom crap is directly relevant to our politics now.

Climate change? Political.

Economics? Political now.

Immigration? Political now.

Foreign policy? Political.

Domestic policy? Political.

Everything has been ginned up to make the current crop of adults fearful of EVERYTHING.

Which can of course be fixed if only we pay a lot more taxes, give a lot more power to the government and just work and shut up.

I see something completely different from gen z. In fact, many of them are shockingly conservative and have not been easily duped by the crazy that surrounds them.

That's just my personal experience. But there's been some articles describing this very phenomenon.

In the end, it seems each generation bucks against the one their parents represent.

So there's still hope that in the long-term we aren't going over the edge. Also, it seems to prove the maxim that the more things change the more they stay the same.

Why Democrats Should Be Losing Sleep Over Generation Z

While Millennials still remember cassette players and dial-up Internet, Generation Z grew up hounded by perpetual terrorist threats and school shootings reflecting on them from their Macbook and iPad screens.

They grew up watching Millennials entering the work force with thousands of dollars in school debt, and it seems that they are intent on not making the same mistakes as us.

According to research, Gen Z is more individualistic, more conservative both socially and fiscally, and they’re already making waves of impact on our political system. Gen Z, those born in 1995 or later, is possibly the most conservative generation since World War II...

I disagree a little, the left has always been extreme, they just started letting everyone see it in public in recent years. They did a very good job of hiding it from the masses and chipped away at what they could over time. Now it's just blatantly out in the open which I think is a good thing, people are starting to be turned off by it and are turning their attention the other way.

I agree to disagree!

I have several Democrat friends that jumped ship after Obama, (who they had voted for), and voted for Trump. They are some of the most outspoken Trump supporters now

The Millennials and Gen-Z'ers (That's pronounced 'Zed' 'round these parts), in my life are amazing and wonderful people.
Not political, or preachy: just nice young folks whom prefer to get-along, rather than argue.

Person opinion is that someone whom is well adjusted to our sick societies, is not a good measure of sanity.

Where is the tyranny coming from? As far as tolerance it use to be I may not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it.

I think a big part of the 'feel' today is that the action:reaction cycle in social interaction is so very swift.

The web has matured and we are all jacked into its information-dropping mechanism. We get new information all the time and we are constantly reacting to it.

Compare that to the 1980s. Wanted to read a political tract? It had to be located in a library or had to be sent ... via the post office. Much longer cycle of information intake and reaction.

It may be that we're outstripping our natural ability to receive input and react accordingly.

Cheers

Information overload is a risk towards sanity when there are many interrelated concepts to catch up on. If you have some false beliefs that you try and hold onto it can created internal conflicts and misperceptions. It is also good to question with too many incontinences to believe everything.

People that see everything as black or white do have trouble handling doubt and uncertainty. There are some solid facts around to help keep everything real and not get too far off track. Sorting out the facts from the fiction is not easy.

To help with all this it helps to do your homework and get those answers you are looking for. It does take time, it is a complicated world, take things one step at a time and may the truth be with you.

Honestly I believe that social media has screwed up the world big time! What started out as a good thing has been used and abused to spread extremist propaganda and make the far left and far right extremists seem like they are the majorities (when in fact they are just a very small percentage of the population) and the mainstream media use the controversy to feed the advertising revenue machine. It's all about social media acceptance and Jerry Springer reporting now. Opinions have become more important than facts and the extremists are the squeaking wheel that gets greased. The world will keep on turning long after they are gone just as it always has.
