Horrible story reported by CNN today.
It seems a teenager was shot dead by a store clerk after the boy stole a can of beer.

HERE is CNN's first paragraph in the story:

A jury found a grocery clerk guilty of killing a 17-year-old boy who ran out of the store with a beer he didn't pay for in Memphis, Tennessee, in a case that had sparked protests, authorities said.

As I said...a tragic story about an awful event.
The boy should never have been killed for stealing a beer.
It's hideously unfair...and it shows a disgusting lack of humanity and judgement from the store clerk responsible for killing this young man.

This is a tragic story anyone should be upset about.

THIS, however, is CNN's headline:

A black teen ran out with a $2 beer. Then a Tennessee store clerk followed him and shot him dead

www.msn.com... cid=spartanntp

THIS CNN HEADLINE, however, is what I am actually ranting about.

WHY is it necessary...in fact, WHY is it apparently of the utmost importance to highlight the race of the young man by giving it premier placement in the headline?

The young man's race has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this tragic event...yet, CNN went out of it's way to inflame racial angst and gain additional clicks by highlighting that this boy was "black".

The store clerk's (Anwar Ghazali) race is NOT highlighted in the story... but the young man's race IS.

Yet, CNN is counting on nobody reading beyond it's muck-raking and inflammatory headline...and assuming this was just another senseless, white-on-black, race-related, killing.

I'm no fan of CNN, to begin with...but THIS is a clear-cut case of CNN selectively highlighting the victim's race simply to inflame anger and racial division for the sake of it's own financial gain.

CNN is worse than FAKE News...it's A$$HOLE News!

I think you're totally over reacting here dude. Naming the race of the offender (or victim) has been a thing in the US media ever since I even began reading news... It's in no way solely a CNN trait.

You've probably only noticed CNN doing it now, because Trump told you its fake news and your picking though there news stories with a confirmation bias.

Sounds you are annoyed by the idea that they can do that , just because it's a fact .
A basic way that news propaganda works is that by presenting only 99% undisputed facts , they then get to choose the facts they present . And the order they come in , and the proper designation of importance , and so on .
They haven't lied or changed the truth , but the obviousness of bias or racist agenda nevertheless may well cause a thinking mind to outwardly express rejection of the propagators .

There ;s a saying I was taught by some good old boys years ago , it's 2 words , " F em "

If that was the case, CNN would have also made a point of the shooter's race. They did not.

But I can't say I'm surprised that you're defending CNN.

The leftists only have starting a race war next.

They tried with the class warfare.

They will do anything they can to disrupt the system so much that authoritarian rule has to come into play.

It's what they want.

"A White Teen Ran Out With a $2 Beer. Then a Tennessee Store Clerk..."

You honestly wouldn't notice the race inclusion in the headline if it said "White?"

Ok...they put the race of the boy who got shot in the headline, but didn't includs it in the body of the article (the first sentence, anyway). Is that normal? I don't honestly know, but I suspect it isn't. I do think that they are deliberately trying to whip people up.

Each station has its agenda. CNN will always mention the victims' race if they are a minority. Fox will always mention the perpetrator's race if it is a minority.

They all do it to one degree or another depending on the narrative they are trying to push.

For what though?

It obviously isn't ratings.

HERE is FOX's headline:

Teen ran out with a $2 beer. Memphis store clerk followed him and shot him dead

fox2now.com...
No mention of the race of either the victim or the killer.

By describing the shooter as "Tennessean" an unaware viewer might assume it was a white guy.

They know what they are doing...

It was literally jammed into my eyeballs when I turned on my computer and the MSM homepage news feed popped up with the story.

Are you trying to claim that Fox doesn't push race or religious affiliations when it suits their narrative? I feel like because in this single case they didn't do so that you are saying they are some upstanding bastion of truth.

I am not going to go look for evidence of fox doing the exact thing you are bitching about because I am not feigning outrage or indignation over what has been going on for decades. When I clicked on this thread and read I wondered just how bored a person had to be to search for the article you posted about to act outraged by.

Haven't had a TV for years because TV show suck I would rather read a book and the News has become nothing but propaganda provacature mouthpieces.

Doesn't matter. It only takes seconds to find out it wasn't some average white guy who shot him. It's a stale tactic.

Same for anyone trying to shape and mold headlines. Nobody is buying it anymore. General rule of thumb now is if the headline is shocking there is a strong scent it's leaving out critical details that would make it not shocking at all.

Oh it's not just cnn.

A few weeks ago I saw a story about a flash mob of 60 teens robbing a store.
Not a single description in the whole article.
The video showed everything.

Remember Trayvon?
The news showed his picture from two years prior instead of his social media profile.

They also called George Zimmerman a "white" Mexican...loved that one

No no, all news sources are guilty.

All I have to read is the part about Memphis TN. Sorry, it's a black kid and considering the racial make-up of the city, a black guy who was the store clerk. Lived there for almost a decade, no need to mention race. If they had said Southhaven MS, Bartlett, Collierville, or Germantown TN (all suburbs of Memphis), then you might wonder the race of both the victim and the perpetrator.
