How can you call for more gun control when the firearms in the Philly drugs bust were ILLEGAL?!

So really what you all are saying is that we are going to continue to have school kids gunned down in their classrooms... We just have to accept it....

Until we and the politicos ACTUALLY address the root causes and not the tools used, YES. Want to reduce the school shootings, then change to addressing WHY these kids do this, and any SSRI's or bullying (or a combination thereof) happen. In most of the cases, the shooter was bullied ad-nauseum by their "peers" and the school administration did NOTHING or punished THEM.

Repeatedly focusing on the tool has not worked, has it? Why try the same failed approach? Because it is a means toward full disarmament of the population under the guise of "gun control" to "save the children".

You force someone into a corner and the WILL strike out at their oppressors, DUH!!

And it seems that is EXACTLY what the politicos want to happen since it provides their narrative to spread fear into the population. That fear is a vehicle to change the populations mindset toward accepting disarmament. The only reason it has not fully happened yet in the USA is that darned Constitutional amendment. Imagine that, the founders using their own real-world experience with an oppressive regime agreed this was important enough to include. And, even though it can be changed, they intentionally made it very difficult to do just that.

Genius IMO.

They keep happening because they are easy targets. GFZ = easy targets. No amount of legislation can remove evil from ones heart.

How do you stop criminals from being criminals?
a reply to: willzilla

IDK... Jobs maybe, but I doubt that will work. Not saying I have any answers... Just saying we have to learn to live with school shootings.

Step 1: Promote fatherhood.

Making guns in your bathtub in the backyard should be really really cracked down on.

I mean, how else do these people, in suburbia, get their guns illegally. Certainly not from the plethora of legal gun owners at some gun porn festival, or from establishments who give guns away with every fishing rod. And it would be unthinkable that in a nation of so many, with so many law abiding gun owners having so many gun cabinets, that they just get stolen to be used by insane people.

Must be illicit gun labs. I've yet to see that fabled gun tree, with gun fruit free for the picking. So gun labs it is.

I say, we make an effort to curb the clandestine backyard gun labs. But then, people will just say "I dun care, Imma print one with my $300 3D printer hyuk!"

And it surely has nothing to do with the fact the every tom, dick and dirty harry can just go buy one a week before going a little bit off meds and becoming another statistic, no questions asked. Right?

No Consideration, No Legislation !!11

We have enough gun control.

MORE than enough.

If the control is not working, then you need less guns. fark me sideways..

I know I know, everyone should have a car to prevent the people driving cars into crowds.. Oh..

Everyone should carry a knife in the event someone with a knife decides to lose it. Oh

Or golf clubs, everyone should carry a golf club, in case there is a problem at the course. Oh

None of those things would do sfa. more of the weapon used, doesn't work. The one or two times someone does have the wherewithal to pull it off, is so rare you could place it at the top of any list.

If gun crime is not the result of guns, and you're simply wishing to wish it away with bad logic such as more guns, less control, then you're on the right path.

This is like saying easy access to needles is not the reason there are so many used needles sticking kids in playgrounds.

Probs be another shooting tomorrow where guns were not involved. cest la vie.

You conveniently forgot about the illegal importation of guns by....wait for it.....criminals. And, with more open borders, we'll have even more coming across. See, criminals, by nature, do not care about the laws, period. Add more and more laws, and all you do is oppress those that WILL respect the law. Until it becomes so draconian, they nobody follows the laws.

Is that even part of your calculus beyond "take them all away"?

It really gets me steamed when the police chief, the mayor or whoever, get's up on that podium and says we have to do something about guns, esp. when it always seems to be only when police get shot. But ultimately the responsibility is on law enforcement to enforce the law and deal with the criminals who are illegally using guns in their criminal acts.

Why aren't they getting the job done? What's the real problem here? Because if they went untouchable on these criminals and actually enforced the laws, there wouldn't be this constant criminal gun violence to deal with. I'm only left to think that it is easier and more profitable to get paid off while they just issue tickets and occasionally harass hookers than deal with the really hardened criminals.

Then you have the fact that they looked like a bunch of clueless rookies when this incident went down. Add to that the unreported crowd of people from the hood that were giving the police all kinds of crap while the bullets were flying. Real professional law enforcement effort going on, no wonder they had two cops held hostage and six cop casualties.

But instead of addressing the real issue of why they aren't getting the job done, they say they need to "do something" about guns, as if gun wielding ex-cons selling illegal drugs and shooting up the cops have respect for the law, not to mention the attitude of the people who live in that neighborhood. If law enforcement needs to do something, I think that something should be go and do the damn job you're paid to do and clean up the criminal mess. They have the equipment and man power, go out and clean up the streets already. Don't say "something needs to be done" and then do nothing but talk BS to the public from behind a podium.

Truth is, when it comes to Narcotics and drugs, this happens far more than mass shootings. In a sense, it has more right for a call to ban "Assault like weapons" than post mass shooting hysteria does. So to argue the case is almost invalid. My opinion only.
