How many mass murders have their been in the US, caused by guns, in this year alone? Last I read it's over 500.

How many mass murders involving not only guns but other weapons have happened in Australia in the last year? One.

Even accounting for population differences no sane person can say that having more guns equates to less mass murders and shootings. The facts speak for themselves.

Having read through all this and your OP and your replies, I just have to ask.

Do you live in Australia or the US?

And if you live in Australia, why ever in the world would you give a rat's behind about how many are killed in the US, in mass shootings or otherwise? There's a lot I find interesting about Australia, but your murder rate or lack thereof isn't high on list of interests. Different cultures, different problems, different legal systems, whatever. There's really no comparison between the US and Australia. For one thing, and no, I haven't researched it lately, Australia has VERY stringent border controls and from what I read, its very difficult for people to legally immigrate to Australia. Last time I checked, US Americans have to prove a net worth of $1 Million or more just to gain permanent residency upon retirement to become legal residents of Australia.

The US on the other hand, has the most porous borders in the world. The US government has all but ceded national sovereignty over its southern border. And considering the Sanctuary Cities/States laws on the West Coast, one could argue that the US National Government has near ceded national sovereignty over the west coast of the US.

If you're living in Australia............I'd think the US would be the very least of YOUR concerns. China on the other hand?

I care because the NRA has a presence here trying to loosen our gun laws and interfere with our politics. Of bloody course I'm going to talk about it if they bring it here and try that crap with us.

Further to that, this right-wing lurch that the US has taken is infecting us here too. Trump has emboldened every lunatic extremist here in Australia, including in our politics, that we haven't seen in a long while.
