I keep thinking about the causes of these mass shootings. I grew up in the 70's and 80' these shootings never happened or came into my thoughts back then. What has changed? It cant be gun access because there has always been guns. Racism? That has always been there. Maybe social media? Degrading of morality?. Autism? Use of antidepressants? Emf affecting our brains? would appreciate thoughts

There were mass shootings in the 1970's and 1980's, this is fairly easy to look up.

The first one I remember was at a Mickey D's in the 70's.

If I remember correctly, ME and all that.

They had asylums for the criminally insane back then. And they kept them under lock and key sometimes for the rest of their lives.

I remember the tower shooter at a Texas University... The whole nation was outraged. In Wichita a copy cat got on top of the local Holiday inn a high rise which was the tallest building in Wichita and began shooting people. This was a copycat of the Texas tower shooting. So this crap has been going on forever it is just more reported on since the 24/7 news cycle.

Lack of human interaction due to convenience of the internet, which creates lack of compassion and empathy towards other human beings.

There isn’t just one cause. It’s a complex equation with numerous factors. To list a few....smart phones, social media, movies & tv, video games. Also as a society we’ve moved away from religion. Not saying I agree with religion, but i think it has had an effect on moral values.

Broken homes, less frequent physical interactions with people, poor role models or helicopter parenting...

My personal belief… the lets give a pill for every thing that is normal behavior for kids so they sit there like a vegetable rather than be a kid has probably done more damage to the collective psyche of the populace than any one other thing.

Let's see. In the rest of the western world we too have violent games, social media, antidepressants, autism yet we don't have mass shootings.
There is one thing we don't have and it's..... Tadaaaa..
As much as I'm anti gun I don't think the guns are the only problem however they are a tool that can be useful when you go on a killing spree.
What I think is weird is that the parents/family oversee the red flags. You don't become a mass killer over night, that's for sure. Can you blame it on our way of life perhaps? We work more today than we did before so we are too tired to interact with our kids when we get home? Instead of talkimg to our kids we give them internet access and a phone so they can interact with the rest of the world (for good or bad).

I was pondering this, myself.

It seems like people do not value life, including their own. Young people are coming up in a world where it can be hard to make it on your own, provide for yourself, move out, build a future. Nowadays we are all inundated with insane and polarizing politicking constantly.

I think it can cause hopelessness and blame in some extreme cases.

When people lose hope, they lose it.

There is not one single cause.
First thing that needs addressing is the term "mass shooting"
Remove all gang activity from the stats.
The cause of that is obvious so why confuse the matter.

What you're left with is people with mental issues that never get treatment.
Antidepressants are usually involved.
Lack of family structure.
Disregard for human life.
And one thing I believe is a huge factor is name recognition.
The name of these shooters should not be disclosed so they will not commit crimes to get their names in the history books.

Incels....it has to be the incels.

DHS Awards $250,000 to Study ‘Male Supremacist’ Terror Threat Posed by Incels

“The Incel community is one of the purest hotbeds of Internet radicalization I’ve ever seen,” says research leader.

The Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $250,000 grant to Georgia State University for a study into the ‘male supremacist’ terror threat posed by the incel movement. Incels are members of an Internet subculture based on “involuntary celibacy,” which is borne out of their failure to attract women and subsequent hatred of women.

No prob people, the govt has our backs and will get to the bottom of this posthaste.

If I had to sum it up in a few words, I would say it’s a lack of respect for life in general and lack of accountability for ones actions.

I think you are right, but I think ADD and ADHD drugs they pump kids full of now adds to it as well
