Your OP is interesting and makes good points, but unfortunately, you have a few clowns that have trolled your thread so hard that no counterpoints or points can be made. The truth is usually somewhere in-between everyones stances.
Oh #, do you need somewhere you feel safe to discuss what's on your mind, I mean after all the op is full of great discussion points that you can't make because of clowns apparently.
Hoping to reach African-American voters nationally in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday toured the West Baltimore neighborhood where Freddie Gray was arrested — and likened the poverty he observed to that of the Third World. The independent senator, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, walked the streets of Sandtown-Winchester for about 20 minutes, joined by community leaders and a swarm of cameras that mostly blocked his view of boarded rowhomes and crumbling marble steps. A handful of residents joined the spectacle, and occasionally broke out in chants of Gray's name. The scene provided dramatic visuals of the economic inequality Sanders has made the center of his campaign, offering a new backdrop from which to argue for a higher minimum wage, tuition-free public college and tougher federal regulations of the nation's banking sector. "Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you're in a wealthy nation," Sanders told reporters later at the Freddie Gray Empowerment Center in Bolton Hill. "You would think that you were in a Third World country."
so yeah not the best situation for Baltimore students here either
Teachers in Baltimore are calling for city schools to be closed until heating problems are resolved, saying many students have been forced to attend classes bundled up in coats, hats and gloves during the recent frigid weather. The Baltimore Teachers Union sent a letter on Wednesday to Sonja Brookins Santelises, the chief executive officer of Baltimore City Public Schools, saying that this week students and teachers have endured dangerously low temperatures in buildings that are struggling to operate with bursting boilers and drafty windows. “Trying to provide a stable learning environment in these extreme conditions is unfair and inhumane, to say the least,” said Marietta English, the president of the union, in the letter, which was published in The Baltimore Sun on Wednesday.
In Season 2, The Wire explored the fact that the drug problem was not limited to one racial group. The stories of white, working-class families, stevedores and others working near Baltimore's harbour echoed a reality that many civic leaders chose to ignore for far too many years. Season 3 returned us to drug distribution at the street level, but there is a sinister maturity and evolution that occurs in the drug trade, or "the game", as many Baltimore drug dealers refer to it. Drug dealers try to become legitimate business people and organise themselves the way criminal groups from the era of alcohol prohibition structured themselves. This development occurred in Baltimore. Furthermore, the frustrating attempt by police to destroy the trade by targeting leaders of these organisations as described in the show reflects a big city reality that organisation leaders come and go, but the trade (the game) remains. The heartbreaking, destructive impact of illegal drug use on school children and the school system is the primary focus of the show in Season 4. While Baltimore can boast of a select group of fine public schools, it is undeniable that The Wire captures the reality of the struggles faced by many teachers and students, especially in Baltimore's middle schools, those schools whose populations are adolescents between the ages of 12 and 14. Drug dealers often try to use children of that age as street-level distributors. Also, unfortunately, some of these children live in homes where parents may be drug addicts. Thus, the children hear an anti-drug-use message from their schoolteachers, but they see a different drug reality at home.
so yeah not exactly the best things going on in Baltimore
Video footage of Mayor Catherine Pugh touring an East Baltimore neighborhood has gone viral after she is heard making some indelicate remarks. The segment, which looks back on the mayor’s violence-reduction initiative rolled out last year, was filmed last week and aired this week on Fox 45. In the footage, Pugh tours an area of vacant houses with city leaders and says: “What the hell? We should just take all this [expletive] down.” And then: “Whoa, you can smell the rats.” “Whew, Jesus.” “Oh, my God, you can smell the dead animals.”

You do realize that conservatives and redlining literally created every ghetto in the country...
Purposely, by design..
You do realize that the ghettos of the country are100 years old right... atleast???
Guess what was happening in America 100 years ago??
The 1920s KKK resurgence... where countless white southerners took to the streets to express their anger at the fact the blacks were no longer property..
The level of garbage from conservative media is just mind boggling..
When addressing political hooliganism you may as well bang your head against the wall it would likely at least yield a result.
The op wants to go back to segregation and times of a bygone era, to some going backwards is going forward.

You ruin every thread you post in, stop being so pathetic. Some of us here would like to have some form of constructive dialogue without your childish interruptions.
