they do not get paid by the US government.

they are President Trumps advisors.

why is this difficult for the Democrats?

the reason the Democrats want the emails is because advisors speculate.

the left wants those speculations to make it appear "something" is wrong.

the left speculates President Trump and his family have done wrong.

they also speculated Meuller would find crimes that were not there.

But, reading the OP link, I see they are accused of that, so, my bad for not reading the link.

I understand the situations are somewhat different. However if they are not forwarding that communication to be recorded officially. Then they are not following the law.

Also, the article clearly states they are cooperating with the committee - unlike one HRC.

Yeah, there may well be important differences here. We don't know how many emails are involved, whether they contained any restricted access information, whether there's been any effort to destroy those emails and especially if those efforts appear to have been unusually thorough as intended to obstruct investigation, etc.

Basically, we need to know the nature and scope of the offense and whether it can be reasonably chalked up to an honest mistake of someone new to government record keeping. If this turns out to be a series of emails about canceling funding for a study of tadpole farming in Iowa or some such nonsense, a prosecution is going to be a tough sell.

Doesn't this qualify as abusing the power of their position in government for personal gain, or gain for their political party? I am pretty sure that the Dems are actually breaking the laws of our country. If this is true, the president or Senate could actually require all congressmen to give all private correspondence on their personal servers to the department of Justice. Don't the Democrats have a clue what precedence they are starting here, they cannot protect their own private messages if they go after others. They really are not too smart.

The Senate could require all of the Congressmen to turn over every message they have done while in office now. Stupid Stupid Liberals, I have no clue how they even got elected.
