Sorry. This Thread is his opinion. Most of which is absolute misinformation. Its obviously biased towards the left as he mentions Clinton, Right Wing. Our country is under attack from within. I wonder why this thread was written just day one after Mueller BOMBED and the FEDS restored the death penalty.

I feel like this gets forgotten so much, so often we see opinions (and to be clear everything I have posted so far is very much a opinion) are presented like facts or people like to pretend that their opinion is some how of more worth than the opinion of anothers

We can debate opinions of course with facts to support them but more of then than not it comes down to you don't love/hate the fat man who sits in the big chair in the Oval Office like me so you're wrong and a big stupid head poop-bum.

Having an opinion is not a problem.
But at the same time, why should I get all worked up over Australia's internal politics?

You shouldn’t because there is almost zero chance it will have any impact on your life.
The same cannot be said of America, what happens in your country reverberates strongly around the entire globe

Foreign policy yes.
Porn stars slept with no.
Does closing our border to illegals really effect Europe or Asia?
Does his Twitter battle with senators effect the rest of the world?

I just find it odd that so many people around the world give a damn about a washed up porn star relationship with a billionaire.

I’d have thought most people would be similar minded but it seems these days if you agree with something on the left you’re an LBGQ leftist freak and on the right you’re a neo nazi KK fanboy.

Let’s not let the minority’s elements latch on to a mainstream ideology and claim to speak for them all.

Honestly I know of quite a few who left because they felt they were being bullied, thats just what they said privately to me, another said his son die I don't know about all of the rest of them. I don't think its fair for you to say why they left unless you have been told by them why they left. Personally I think its more a case of not wanting to be part of such a hostile site, I have often thought that if myself along with a handful of other posters was to just stop posting this site would die, there would be nobody for you to debate with!

As for your opinion on me, have at it, I don't care what you or anyone else on ATS thinks of me personally but this thread is not about me personally it is about the nature of political opinion.

I actually think you're the normal one, not the odd one out, I am much the same, I am very conservative on some issues and pretty liberal on others, I also have a universal dislike of all politicians.

To an extent I blame the media for this, but how often do we see a thread entitled something along the lines of "Liberals say conservatives are Nazi's" or words to that effect (okay not quite a bold as that but you get the idea)....who exactly is this person that represents all liberals. We see it on both sides some politician says something and before you know it that statement represents that entire political ideology.

I have a problem with the Sheeple in general I guess, it's not even so much about not following my way it's more about how they will support a statement even if its not supported by facts so long as it aligns with their own political opinion.

That is probably true, and there is a reason. Left wing minds do not like debate if they can't control the debate by grouping up and chasing off any opposing opinions. If they could have managed that here, then this place would be more left wing. Thankfully they haven't because once they do, you really can't post any opinions they don't like without eventually being run off or moderator punished so much that it isn't worth it to try.

This however is not so much about a standard I wish to bring about rather it is just about the fact out reality of how ATS has turned into a circle-jerk of political opinion.

ATS isn't the Mud-Pit though. That's just one forum. They happen to be popular forums, but it's just one.

Criticizing Trump isn't a problem. I criticize Trump from time to time. But I want to make sure I bring facts to the table. I recognize that those threads aren't very popular on ATS, but that does not make ATS a right-wing site. It makes ATS a site where certain fake news lies don't fly. Like the lie you repeated that Trump told Cohen to lie to congress. We know that isn't true, but you still felt the need to jab Trump supporters with an "I told you so" that was unearned.

Could it be that uncritical view of articles is part of the problem?

God knows (and so does ATS) that's I've had a few of those. If this is true for me, then what about a preachy foreigner? The majority of ATS members reside in the United States. The type of person who would typically post on a site like this are males, usually older than 30, older people tend to be conservative.

The political spectrum here isn't binary either. I don't support Republicans, I support President Trump. I don't support Democrats but I like Andrew Yang. I'm anti-socialism but that doesn't mean I don't want economic cops on the beat.

You only need to read as far as this thread to see how far right-wingers are willing to extend their hand in brotherhood with me.

I make mistake after mistake, I sometimes get duped, I'm wrong on stuff, sometimes I pull the trigger on a post before checking my facts, but we have to admit to those things. We have to be honest with each other. OPs like this aren't honest, they are preachy, professorial, and diminish your own shortcomings while amplifying those of others. ATS won't be better by doing this. That is my contention in this thread, the issues with politics on ATS, and my criticism of how your post comes across.

We put ourselves in these threads. At least I do. I expect to be criticized for my ideas. I expect to be expected to back up my assertions with something that resembles reality. Everything else is nuance and politics.

The number of people who I believe support trump is based on polling data, right now its at about 42%

That is the most factual way I know of gauging his support now sure I can look at other indicators and yes looking at what the media are saying about him feeds into that.

It didn't (well not exactly...) but I was only responding to a question I am not looking to go down that rabbit hole.
