Because their infrastructures are old. When climate disasters strike, federal funds are tied to rebuilding, including interstate highways, and engineers should look at the climate studies to decide how and where to put the new roads, sewers and communities.

So, in my response I tried to redirect your diversion back to why its healthy to address climate issues.

Your argument that states can address climate issues, if they want, even though the federal government is hiding and lying about the science, fails to address the need for federal funds and oversight for new projects, after a climate disaster strikes.

Also, keeping climate science secret allows for states and cities to cater to private interests, who might corral low income communities into areas that will be more affected by climate change and richer people into communities that would be less affected. That's already happening in some places, where corporations and rich people are buying up cheap property in low income areas, and gentrifying the area making it too expensive for the original population to stay, because those neighborhoods are out of the secret climate change "flood path".

I'm saying that without the federal climate research data, they can't make informed decisions that benefit the whole population. And I'm saying, that keeping federal research on climate science secret, and/or denying it, can hurt large populations.

I'm saying that the fish rots from the head down, and when the federal government denies climate science and silences its researchers and scientists, the populations of states and cities are harmed.
